An essential visit in Te Anau! The vegan pizza I've had in Aotearoa! It was very authentic and true to the traditional Italian meals with a slight modern twist the running of the restaurant is like a well-oiled machine! The staff were friendly and the chefs were excellent too! I'm sensitive to gluten and found their pizza base didn't upset my stomach due to the method they make their dough. Must get the vegan sticky date pudding as it is sensational !!!! Vegetarian options: Really good vegetarian & vegan options.
Absolutely delicious pizza. Lovely crisp smokey bases using the right amount of semolina. They do the Italian classics very well, along with some other more interesting items like pizzas with a pea base. The one we had was a revelation - I'm not kidding. We're not vegans, but I doubt there's a better place to eat in Te Anau if you are one. The service was excellent, especially given how few servers there were and how busy it was. We were treated like queens.
Amazing wood fired pizza and the best Tiramisu!!! Waitress are lovely and there is fast service. The place is bustling even late at night, we opted to eat outside as inside was quite loud with everyone ! Loved the family business atmosphere. Will definitely come again :Recommended dishesProsciutto E Funghi, Tiramisu Cake, Pizza Florian
Came here and got two pasta on the specials menu as well as the Grecian and Carnivore Pizza. I would highly recommend the original pizzas over the essentials, as they were quite true to a more traditional Italian style, especially being wood-fired. We came over the New Year's period and it was quiet busy in Te Anau generally. There was a line out the door but we were seated relatively quickly which was awesome. My only complaint, is when it started raining outside during our dinner and we requested an inside table 3 of which were available were we told this would be a “big problem”... despite this we did manage to get a table inside - but I think a more understanding tone could have apperciated.
Great and warm pizza restaurant that runs till late. We came by around 9pm+ and kitchen is still open. Sarah was pretty friendly and efficient. Pizza is thin and delicious. Will definitely come back if I’m in te anau again.
incredible, incredible, incredible! we came here after spending the entire day trekking at milford sound, so the entire family was pretty much famished! as a family of five, we cleaned up four plates of pizza and three plates of pasta everything we had was so delicious! you definitely need to pop by if you’re in the area. the queues get long, but their wood fired oven pizzas and fresh pastas make it all worth the wait. their pasta was an off-the-menu item but i believe we ordered two plates of the truffle mushroom pasta because it was just so good - just thinking about right now makes me want to cry happy tears unfortunately, we devoured everything so quick that we didn’t leave any space for dessert. we hope to come back one day to try their desserts which look just as incredible. we came here during summer and service was a little slow - but understandably so given the current labour shortage situation that’s going on. a lot of the staff were new the waiter serving us was day 1 on the job! but they did their best to catch up to speed. lady boss was amazing and had incredible memory. for example, we had asked two waiters for a refill on the water but both times they forgot. lady boss on the other hand not only brought our refill but also memorized our additional orders, all while juggling requests from other customers around us - how amazing is that? if you’re unsure of what to order, feel free to ask them for recommendations! both pastas that were recommended to us were amazing, you really can’t go wrong!
Some of the best wood-fired pizza in New Zealand. Can say this as I travel NZ a lot and do a Google search for wood fired-pizza in every town. Good atmosphere. Service does take long so allow time for that! Bit pizza is worth the wait. Vegan and meat based options available. Can also do vegan option with real cheese, which is good as vegan options have awesome ingredients combinations. Has a great gluten free option, but as their bases are sourdough most of the gluten is absorbed during the making process and is a good cheat option if you are just gluten intolerant and do not have celiac disease.
This is a VERY well run restaurant! Lasagna, service, and vibes were so good I came back for the same meal two nights in a row! They were able to seat tables without a booking one of the only places in town, it seems. You can tell some of the staff are fresh, but everyone was doing an absolutely phenomenal job, and I felt very welcomed as a solo diner. It appeared any group size was welcomed with open arms. Not to mention the food is phenomenal! I dined out in Te Anau many times over the past few days and felt most comfortable and cared for here by far!. Thank you!
An approachable and authentic atmosphere, being understaffed did not impact the quality of the experience, only a slightly longer wait. There was one pizza maker forget the proper title making all the pizzas for the packed restaurant, extremely impressive. Being able to see them make the pizzas from some angles of the restaurant was quite wonderful, it helps one appreciate the effort that goes into it, and just how much the staff work to prepare what you're ordering. I'd recommend their more special pizzas, Florian was a fantastic combination of blue cheese, spinach, spicy salami, roasted garlic and a few other toppings. However their other pizzas are delicious as well. Tried the garlic bread which was nice, and my partner loved their olive appetizer dish, both were timely things to order while waiting for our pizza. The wait time went by unnoticeably.
Had dinner here on 15th May 2022. Had the bruschetta which was fresh and tasted great! The pizza with 4 cheese was also good and had a nice charred taste on the crust. Worth a try.
