This event totally lost its purpose of showcasing the beautiful wines of the south island. The cost of ticket is understandable but to charge people $4+ just to try a tiny bit of their wines is not something some people are up for and definitely not going to cost them a fortune to open a bottle for tasting. I am a wine enthusiast myself and have been to many wine festivals here and overseas but nothing like this. As much as I would like to try most of the wines i just couldn't take the risks of paying for something i paid and end up not liking them. Especially some of them are just small scale producers and first time introducing their wine line ups to the public. The event could have been great if they didnt try to turn it into a business. I also wish that more wine producers participated in the event.
