The place was very warm and lovely. I ordered the pork dish and it was fantastic! The service there was also top notch and they kept making sure we were doing alright and were very friendly and attentive. Best of all was Benson! Their Dog. you got to check out their dog.. you won't want to not to.

Beautiful dining environment with delightful details. Host couple were very friendly and were responsible for ensuring their guests to enjoy the food. Highly recommend their rib eye steak, it was the best beef I ever had!! Also, it was cute that the little dog accompanied us throughout the dinner!
Tired, dirty and absolutely famished from a day of adventuring, we were desperately trying to find somewhere to eat on the way back to Christchurch from Queenstown. We saw Red Stag on Google, decided to just see if they were open, and ending up having one of the best dining experiences of our lives. This place is so cozy, homely, quiet and THEIR DOG IS SO CUTE. The food is great, the pricing is reasonable and we were treated with such kindness and respect. We can't wait to go back once we are able.
We have been travelling thought NZ and trust me, this is by far the BEST diner that I have come accross and it is tucked away in Fairile! Scrumptious spread. Tried the minestrone soup, salmon and pork belly and everything was delicious And yes! Do Do try the pavlova for dessert

We were staying in Lake Tekapo and found the food options there to be both mediocre and overpriced so did a little google search, found this restaurant and read the reviews - I would say well worth the drive! It is an unassuming place, but the staff are very friendly - you definitely get the family run vibe, a lovely friendly dog to greet you, and the food was excellent! Seafood chowder was packed full of seafood and the venison was cooked to perfection according to my husband. The ginger sticky date pudding was also amazing... definitely worth a visit if you are in the area or passing through.
We saw the restaurant as we drove pass and decide to stop. It was one of our best meal. I had the seafood chowder which was very tasty and my husband the pork belly and it was beautiful. He loved it a lot. The room is also very well furnished. We highly recommend it...
The food here is fantastic! We got the whitebait fritter to start which is very tender with no fish flavor at all, tis very tasty. Then had the pork belly and eye fritters for mains. Both of these were amazing with great flavor and texture. The ginger date sticky toffee pudding was such a delight and capped off the whole meal wonderfully. The wine selection was quite good and they helped us discover some great wines both white and red.
