We stayed for one night and the campsite was fine, although the mix of permanent and temporary residents does detract a bit from the overall atmosphere, in my opinion. Our cabin however was very clean and quiet, with a good shower, comfortable bed, and nice little kitchenette.nnMy low rating is because of a separate issue. If you need to cancel your reservation, you will need to be diligent in pursuing your refund and don’t expect it to be easy. I cancelled a different reservation with sufficient notice to receive a 75% refund and waited 10 days but no refund. I contacted them and was told my cancellation must have “slipped past” them. I asked for my refund to be processed to the credit card I used to pay for it, but was informed they could not process refunds to a credit card and could only be done by bank transfer. Seriously? What a pain. I reluctantly provided my banking information and personal information via email as they don’t have any kind of a secure portal so I’ve no idea where or how they will be storing my information. I received the refund deposit to my bank account two days later - but of course I was charged a processing fee by my bank for the bank transfer, so I didn’t even get the full amount I was due. What an archaic way of doing business. Other Top 10s have had zero issues refunding to my credit card but for some reason this particular location claimed to be unable to do so, although they have a credit card payment terminal on site. Would it be so hard to train the bookkeeper on how to process a refund? It’s not difficult to do.
We stayed at the Kingfisher unit recently, and unfortunately the lack of cleanliness/hygiene was a real let down. There was a funky odor within the unit that didn't subside, our toilet had urine on it that I had to clean prior to use, there were food crumbs on both couches, crumbs under the table, and the shower wasn't cleaned from the previous guests hair was presentnnFor what families pay to stay at your facilities, cleanliness should be the top priority.nnEdit update: 28/04/26nThank you to management for personally contacting me via phone to genuinely apologize regarding our review/stay. I really appreciated your acknowledgement, and it was very clear to me that you were genuinely sincere and upset by this. I am grateful for your response.
Unfortunately we only had an overnight stay here, it was our last night in the camper before ending our month long vacation, but the site was just a well laid out as all the other Top10 sites which we loved.nGood facilities right on the beach and walking distance to food outlets and shops, with very friendly Ducks.
Great place close to the beach, good facilities to recharge MH leisure batteries, easy access coin operated washing machine and tumble dry. With guest Dump station and portable water.
A really great, quiet campsite & good value for money. Great location in terms of access to the beach. Friendly staff. The facilities were good & very clean. Showers are the nicest of any campsite I’ve been too by a long way but there weren’t very many so expect to wait a bit if the site is busy. Overall highly recommend & I ended up staying twice during my time on North Island.
