Story

Ready Steady Play has been operating since 2000 and originally consisted of two areas. In 2004 the opportunity arose for the preschool to be extended to include Ready Steady Babies and the preschool now houses four separate areas. This makes us unique among other childcare providers as there are now two sides for over 2 year old children and two sides for under 2 year olds. This promotes our aspiration to provide high quality care for babies and children.


The four inside areas reflect the interests, abilities and stages of the children whom occupy them. Equipment, activities and interactions invite participation and facilitate meaningful experiences. Each room has it's own outdoor play space, landscaped to incorporate features of the natural world, setting the stage for open ended and multi sensory learning opportunities. Educators at Ready Steady Play and Babies place great value on this approach to children's learning as it inspires problem solving, imagination and creativity, evoking the true spirit of the child.


The foundation of our programme, environment and interaction is based upon a 'Relationship Based Care' approach where the first priority and on going practice is to nurture and respect each child. In other words, educators focus on the needs of the children and this determines the curriculum.


The holistic nature of learning is reflected throughout the over two year olds environment, where the programme is firmly based in the theory of free play. Educators facilitate the children's play with interactions and experiences whilst building strong relationships that foster children's sense of self and their place in the world.


Literacy and numeracy are interwoven throughout the daily happenings alongside the development of social and physical skills, building the platform for children to succeed. This is a community of learners who work together, developing strong foundations for themselves for their journey as lifelong learners in the future.
