Rapanui-Brunswick Playcentre comes under the umbrella of Wanganui Playcentre Association and the NZ Playcentre Federation. We are a non-profit parent co-operative that exists to strenghthen families while providing a quality learning environment for children from birth to six years.
We currently run three sessions per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-12pm. The sessions are run with high adult to child ratios. We are a rural Centre and most parents/caregivers choose to stay which assists with parental support and links to the wider community.
Rapanui-Brunswick Playcentre has been in existence for over 40 years. It was established in 1972 in the Brunswick Hall and relocated to the old Rapanui School building in 1986. Extensive work was done on the building in 1991 to bring it up to standard and an extension was added in 1994 to accommodate growing roll numbers.
The location of our Centre is in Rapanui Road approximately 18kms northwest of Whanganui. The families and children who currently attend come from Kai Iwi, Westmere, Brunswick, Mowhanau Beach and Whanganui city.
