Went in 2 days ago for a blood test and I had the nicest lady who was awesome with dealing with my anxiety. This was the best experience I’ve ever had! I would 100% recommend her if you’re feeling nervous about getting your bloods done. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name but will update this post if I find out. She has blonde hair. Also, I didn’t feel the needle at all!
I have been an enrolled patient here for about a year now, and it’s one of the best medical practices I’ve been to. Doctors and nurses are kind, understanding, thorough, and non dismissive. They’re very understanding of both physical and mental health issues. I’ve had many past experiences where I’ve really had to “plead my case” and essentially beg for medical professionals to take me seriously - not here. The reception and administrative staff are equally lovely. They’re very organised and efficient, and always do their best to accommodate you if you have to miss or change an appointment. One thing to note is that they can get very busy - especially around New Years and throughout the ski season. Even then, I’ve never had a receptionist or doctor be short, rude, or dismissive of me, which I’ve experienced many times at other practices. Overall a great, solutions-based medical centre with great patient service!
I went in to be seen because I had a headache for three days and it was the most painful thing I have experienced. The appointment took 3.5 hours which I saw was normal here, even though I arrived right when they opened. The receptionist and nurse were very friendly and polite. When I finally was seen by the NP, I felt she was condescending and rude and didn’t listen to me trying to explain my symptoms. She diagnosed me with sinusitis and sent me away, even though I had no respiratory symptoms or congestion or ear pressure or history of hay fever. A week later I finally went to the ED and found out it was meningitis. I don’t mind when providers miss things because they just didn’t consider something uncommon as a possibility. But what makes it so horrible is when people make you feel stupid and ridiculous for trying to advocate for yourself. I would never come back to the urgent care here.
Thought I was seeing someone in the Fracture Clinic as explained to receptionist when booking am dealing with chronic pain and needed a steroid injection. Dr refused but had no issue giving me 'anti inflammatory' prescriptions despite already having all these from my normal GP nothing helping with pain and to continue with physio to 'see how I went for the next month'. Why would I have come down to the clinic if I wasn't in excessive debilitating pain? As explained I had already been seeing physio since the beginning of the year and clearly not having improvement. I asked for the injection so it can keep me mobile and without so much pain that I can keep rehabilitating the injury as well as get back to work and not be suffering so much. No sympathy at all and just didnt want to do the injection. Absolutely disgusted, waste of time and no patient care. They also enrolled me there when I was meant to be coming in as an outpatient to a clinic.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I dealt with Jess Dixon, who was: rude, un-empathetic and extremely unprofessional. Few disappointing comments surrounding her service: - she quickly told me that i was 'not smart' for forgetting my medication on my trip - she got very hostile when i asked when i would be seeing the doctor as i was wanting to talk through this with someone i know would be familiar with my condition through their studies - she said that "people are in here with broken bones that would be more painful than this" - she told me "do you want this prescription or not" when i asked further if it was possible i could talk to a doctor as i was told by reception that this would be the case - i asked her for advice on how to treat this given my condition, and she said "probably best to elevate it, and try not to walk on it" which was the extent of it - after i received the prescription, she told me "you can go" and walked off I tried to resolve this with the medical centre following my service, who failed to recognise that this has nothing to do with the prescriptions offered; it has EVERYTHING to do with the above comments. I ended up seeing another doctor in Queenstown who was significantly more professional. However, now i have paid for two appointments. Just because QMC is the biggest practice in Queenstown, it definitely does not mean they are the best!
Absolutely Rip off, no one knows, what they're doing. I went for my immigration medical test, and a week later I was informed that they lost my reports. I had to pay again for everything and still waiting
Went in today with a knee injury from skiing and had to wait for around an hour as expected, but the receptionist, nurse, radiographer and nurse practitioner who saw me were all absolutely lovely, so caring and extremely helpful. They made sure I was comfortable the whole time and took excellent care of me - it was easily the best treatment I've ever received at a medical centre. As I'm from the North Island and am on holiday they explained the process and gave me all the paperwork needed for getting a referral and care back home, and made it as easy as possible for me. It cost $120 in total for the appointment and x-ray which I thought was very reasonable for a casual patient. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing urgent care. Thank you all so much!!
Best experience I have had at any medical centre, the nurse and doctor were so accommodating and helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, even providing me a dark quiet space to rest and wait before being seen Migraine. Such thorough, thoughtful care and really friendly, thank you so much
Had a throat infection on the first day of my short break holiday, decided I needed a walk in, so visited QMC and was seen in the urgent care queue. Great service
Excellent care and service during two urgent visits while on a ten day holiday in Queenstown. On both occasions we were seen really promptly, and provided with very thorough and friendly care. The handover between team members was efficient and we were communicated with during any delays. No-one likes to have to seek medical attention during a holiday well, any time really!, but the Queenstown Medical Centre made it almost effortless.
