The walking track is easy with a few places needing a little effort up. The right track is well maintained however the left track at the fork is highly eroded by water. We took our time and stop very often to take photos and enjoy the scenery. Definitely recommended.Recommended activitiesWalking, Hiking, Birdwatching
Absolutely gorgeous when you reach the top. But some people in the reviews say this is easy and I’m here to warn you it’s really not. Maybe it’s because I did white water rafting before the hike but it was a steep climb. Took about 2 hours total. About 3.57 miles. Please eat before climbing, make sure you have some good shoes, bring a jacket and a good amount of water. Also don’t climb after 6pm if you’re afraid of the dark.
A really nice scenic hike up Queenstown hill. Don’t try bringing your dog as you can get a $500 fine being seen with a dog. Now is a good time to go up and see the snow on top of the hill. It is moderately steep and a bit slippery after the rain so wear sturdy shoes. No toilets available throughout the hike. We spent about 3 hours in total on this walk. Fees: Fee of $500 for any dogs seen on the trail.
The trail is beautiful and I had unforgettable experience here . I got the trail information from tourists office at Queenstown, I was told this was easy trail, no need for hiking boots and trekking poles which I did not bring for my group tour. It was a steep uphill when approaching to the trailhead. The trail was really wonderful and well maintained, I left my contribution to the Fairy Meeting Place on the way, the overlook of whole town was fantastic specially when a beam of light broke through the clouds brightened the whole town, I felt in heaven. Later on it started raining when we climbed up to the top, it was very unfortunate that my wife slipped at the end of the trail and broke her ankle. I have to give high praise to New Zealand firefighters, who helped me to bring my wife to their car and even sent her to hospital, thank you so much Jim. Then our whole New Zealand trip was cancelled. I got to say the trail was worth it, remember to wear proper shoes, better with hiking shoes, also be careful when it's rainy day.
This is a moderate track with steap climbs. Not too long but good enough for stunning views. Part of the track is covered with trees so you can walk under the shade even in the middle of the day. Summit gives you 360 degree of amazing view at the top. There is on-street parking at the beginning of the track or you can walk from the Queenstown city to do this track. We loved it!
Fantastic walk that goes through varied terrain before reaching the summit where the views are simply spectacular. While it only took me 45mins to walk up I ended up spending an hour at the top just enjoying the landscape. Definitely a steep walk at parts, it’ll get your heart rate up.Recommended activitiesWalking, Hiking
The track is very well maintained and the view at the loop track very beautiful. Keep in mind that this is on a side of a mountain so it is very steep. Best done by fit people who are used to walking up steep tracks. Takes about 1.5-2.5 hours return if loop route was taken.
Soloable as a teenager with a 1L bottle of water, a hoodie, decent shoes and moderately good fitness. The sights of town from the trail is nice and trail is very well maintained. Make sure you check the weather beforehand as it started raining when I was descending.
Nice walking track to the summit of Queenstown Hill. Can be a little steep at times but the views are worth the hard slog once you get to the summit. There are information panels along the track and a couple of pieces of art including the basket of dreams just below the summit.
Honestly it is worth the hike, it's a steep hike, but trust me when you get to summit the views are better then going up the gondola and it's free, just have to put your leg work in.
