Queenstown Airport is one of the most scenic airports in the world. As your plane approaches, you’ll see breathtaking views of mountains, lakes, and valleys—especially the Remarkables mountain range right beside the runway.nIt’s a small but busy airport, mainly serving domestic flights and some international routes like from Australia. Because of the surrounding mountains, landings can feel a bit thrilling, especially in windy weather—but pilots there are highly trained for it.nInside, the airport is simple and easy to navigate, with a relaxed vibe that matches Queenstown’s adventure atmosphere. It’s also very close to the town center—only about 10–15 minutes by car.nIf you’ve been there, you probably noticed how beautiful and cinematic the whole experience feels
Flying into Queenstown Airport is an absolute experience, the mountain views right out the window as you land are incredible. The airport itself is quite small, modern, and very easy to navigate compared to major international hubs. Stepping right out onto the tarmac and breathing in the fresh mountain air with the Remarkables right in front of you is unmatched. Quick baggage claim and easy access to rental cars and transport right outside. A beautiful introduction to the region!
Beautiful airport. Very busy. I think they need a larger airport eventually. Ride share very easy just outside and to the right and returning right by check in. Screening was very efficient and fast. Less than 10 min. Lots of great restaurants and coffee shops. Charter operations also operate outside the main airport.
Queenstown Airport is uniquely nestled among low-rise and mid-sized buildings, giving it a compact yet lively atmosphere. As soon as you step inside, the passenger halls feel vibrant and bustling, with a steady flow of travellers moving through.nOne thing that stands out is the cleanliness—every area of the terminal is well-maintained, creating a pleasant and comfortable environment for visitors.nIn the gate area, there is just a single lounge available always busy for passengers to relax before boarding. And if you take a moment to look outside, you’ll be rewarded with stunning scenery: the airport is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views that are clearly visible, adding a memorable touch to the overall travel experience.
Its small but definitely one of the most beautiful scenic airports we've ever been to. Landing when the snow is starting to fall on the mountains and how crisp the air is, its absolutely beautiful.nnThe airport itself is very clean and the staff are all lovely.
