The elevator sounds like it's going to either fall or stop and leave you trapped. Some of the decor is a bit dated. Good at the on site restaurant is delicious.
Rooms were good, just no balcony to relax. Elevator didnt work going from 3rd floor back down. Restaurant was good, spring rolls at the restaurant was really good, steak was yum but veges and mash was yuck as if it were from a can.Rooms: 4/5
Located near Wanganui Collegiate this hotel is not in walking distance to CBD but there is a cafe on corner. Room was booked for 3 persons but there was only towels and cups for two.Decor was dated and the cleaning was not up to standard eg dirty oven and glasses.Dust on skirting boards.Only one spare pillow and all pillows were substandard.Fold in half and feel your fingers through other side. In bathroom there was one tiny soap and tiny bottle shampoo. Movie channels did not work and we went through all channels. No paper on doorstep in morning. The courtyard was very nice and the staff that were on at the time were very accommodating.
Excellent staff, good service. Room was nothing too flash but very clean and tidy. Restaurant was much better than I expected. Steak was perfect and great staff.
Excellent place to stay, very central and quiet! We stayed at the motel part which they call Econo Lodge. Phone to book this part. Was only $128 a night for a family of 4. Was a 1 bedroom with queen bed in the bedroom and 2 single beds in the lounge, plus a couch, dining table and kitchen with full oven. Interior is dated but very clean. Towels changed every day.
A nice place to stay in wanganui. I have been staying for couple of years now and never had any issues. Very spacious units. Ample parking. Great spot for group stays as well. Regularly serviced. Very close to all the amenities like supermarkets, takeway food. Has a very famous restaurant at the same premise. Friendly staff. Overall great place. Highly recommended.
While the room was functional, clean and situated facing a quiet street, can't say it was value for money. Upon arrival we were met by a receptionist who asked us to read the conditions for staying and sign on the doted line, not a hint of a smile. The furniture in the room needed updating, perhaps a picture on the wall would help. The attention of a maintenance man would also be a bonus. The hinges on the lowboy lacked any screws, the fridge was so noisy that we had to turn it off over night, we had to remove the hanger rail in the cupboard to extract the ironing board and the lid on the bathroom rubbish bin fell off when we attempted to open it. Looked for some milk in the morning for a cup of tea, it appeared the affore mentioned receptionist was meant to tell us that the milk was in a fridge in the hallway. All this for NZ $158 a night, have done better.
It's ok but dated. Was only there for a meeting. The George room was clean but had worn carpet and torn wallpaper. Staff at reception were friendly and reception area was clean and tidy.
Good service. Good clean rooms. Helpful staff. In-house restaurant called The Oaks is also really good too. Would recommend.
Older style furnishings and flooring, but clean and functional. Lots of parking. Good wifi. Close to main street. Water tastes a bit different, but not sure if this is Whanganui in general.
