Quirky hotel with lots of art. Even though it’s quite a large hotel, you get a boutique vibe. Bed is ridiculously comfortable. Location is perfect - right next to the water for fresh walks along the boardwalk and in the streets behind is where all the shopping, bars, breweries and restaurants are. I loved having the gym, pool and sauna for a quick refresh on a holiday.
Our overnight stay here was awesome. Liz on Reception was very professional and helpful on Check in. Dom the Concierge was amazing and very friendly. Our rooms met our needs and were first class overlooking the harbour and TePapa. We ordered room service and it was pretty prompt. It was very relaxing sitting on the balcony with a drink. The Hippopotamus Restaurant was grand for our evening meal and food was superb. Staff were very attentive. We had a cooked breakfast and my husband had no room for lunch that day. Excellent. Dom was prompt with our car on departure. A great place to stay. It was a very special treat for us. Thanks guys.
Such a cool hotel, artsy vibe, rooms are all high class and unique. Has a small but reasonable gym, pool and Sauna. Close to town and Te Papa as well as nearby supermarket and transport. Highly recommend this place. Oh and the rooms have Dyson hair dryers!
This hotel deserves. 4 star rating. However the management took the decision to downgrade breakfast considerably. Listening to other guests the restaurant is floundering. They need some strong management. The cooked breakfasts were taking over an hour to serve. So they removed continental , fresh fruits and toast. The new hot menu is poor. My room 101 windows are filthy with child’s hand prints, which raises questions about hygiene. No Covid measures in the gym
February 2023. Very cool hotel right on the waterfront and 5 minute walk to Cuba at district. Beds are SO COMFORTABLE, and rooms are what you’d expect from the QT art hotels. We booked a waterfront balcony room - see photos. A real experience and we will be back on our next visit to NZ.
Overall had a fantastic stay at QT celebrating my birthday. We stayed at a Twin room. The hotel decor is definitely it's main attraction, you really do feel like you are staying at an art gallery. The staff were fantastic, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I was pleasantly surprised with a super early check in as well as a surprise birthday cheese platter ok our room and a hand written card . This definitely made such a wonderful difference in my day : The lap pool is warm and crystal clear and clean. The spa is just the right temperature so it was very enjoyable to hang out there for a while. I did not use the gym but it looks very decent with plenty of free weights and the basic workout machines available. The bed was fantastic and was the best sleep i had in months. The kitchen is full stocked, plus dishwasher and washing machine. Though we did not get to use it. The bathtub is giant and is separate from the shower. If you were travelling with your partner, you could most definitely have a comfortable romantic bath! The location is fantastic and you can walk to TePapa, the waterfront and the shopping. I gave 4 stars for rooms because with my travels O now have very high expectations I guess especially for expensive hotels. Some of the furniture in the room needs a bit of TLC. One of the wall lamps was flickering like crazy and possibly needs a lamp replaced - something the housekeeping should notice . I thought we were going to have a coffee machine in the room which i love, but it was not there , although there was a space for it AND there was a card with instructions on how to use one .... Overall those are small things and were not an issue for us :
The hotel lobby and the front desk staff are nice. We felt disappointed at a few things regarding the housekeeping services who seemed very short staffed. I think there is a leak in the shower in the room as the carpet on the floor outside the bathroom was damp when we checked in and remained damp throughout our stay. We were getting ready for dinner one night at 7pm and housekeeping showed up to service the room after we had already showered with our old, wet towels. Housekeeping delays and below average cleanliness were a recurring theme of the stay. Overall, for being one of the nicer hotels in Wellington it was a bit of a let down as it’s the small details that really make an experience.
Super hotel in a great location. We booked an apartment room in the newer part of the hotel which was really well equipped with a washer dryer, microwave oven etc. Unfortunately it didn’t look like the bath had been cleaned as was full of hairs, but this was quickly sorted the next time the room was serviced. Would have been five stars, but the breakfast really let it down. Only filtered coffee you had to help yourself to and the selection on the continental buffet was really poor. Apparently “a large group had been in about an hour and a half before us and there was nothing much left”. Not a plain croissant in sight No apologies or discounts were offered either
not what we expected for the price,. Music concert on waterfront all weekend of which we were not advised at the time of booking. had to wait 2 hours past our check in time to get in our room. Waited in lobby as we were continually told that our room will be ready shortly and not even offered coffee or cold drink. When we finally got to our room the shower was dirty and no soap. Following day we were locked out of our room twice. Staff not helpful at all and really uninterested in our comfort. Will not be recommending to fellow travellers
I wasn’t very impressed with my stay at the QT Wellington. The hotel may have modern features and appliances but they are lacking in cleanliness, customer service and basic features other 5 star hotels provide. I usually stay at the Hilton, Radisson or Marriott hotels but decided to stay here because it looked modern and clean but clean it was not. You couldn’t look out the windows because it looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since the hotel was built. Likewise they probably made the rooms look dark to conceal the dust that was lurking beneath. My glass table looked like it hadn’t been wiped for a fortnight there was that much dust on it. Also the mirrors had a lot of splotchy marks on them that looked very untidy. A simple spray and wipe could easily fix that but obviously they don’t care too much about appearances. But worse was the dirty brown marks all over the hand railing near the toilet that was very off putting. I’m not sure if it was dried blood or what it was. There must have been bad drainage too because whenever you flushed the toilet you could hear the pipes making noises. The fridge icebox was continually leaking water that I had to arrange all the items to ensure it didn’t leak on my food. The room cleaning service was incredibly slow. I called at 2pm on Wednesday 4 January 2023 to see when my room would be cleaned. When I didn’t hear back from them I called back at 2:40pm to be told it would be cleaned some time today but they couldn’t give me a time. You wouldn’t get this response from other high rated hotels. In fact it was cleaned after 4pm. The same issue arose on Friday 6 January 2023 when it was attended to after 4pm and the bed spread was more creased than when I left it and when you lifted it up everything was creased underneath. This was also the first hotel I have stayed in that didn’t provide a toothbrush or toothpaste. I was very fortunate that I had brought mine from home. When I ordered the Paris To Go Breakfast at the Hippopotamus it said that it comes with a warm croissant. Not only was it the smallest croissant I have ever seen, it was cold and hard and felt like it was bought from a supermarket. This was also the first hotel that asked for you to pay for your entire visit when you arrived not when you left. This probably should have been a warning sign. Maybe this was because they knew they had alot of issues in their hotel. I would recommend if you stay at this hotel you pay for each day separately in case you have this many issues.
