A few years ago, I visited a fantastic little tavern situated in a location free from light pollution. At night, it offered a splendid experience with beautiful views, stars, and refreshing sea breezes. The prices were reasonable, and my friends and I played darts and billiards until very late. The owner was patient and waited for us to finish our games. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a review of the food as we didn't have any.
New owners so don't believe the low rating. My partner went here because there was no other place really. We were a bit concerned with the 3.9 rating it had but it's under new ownership! The place was clean and nice with awesome wooden furniture that makes it feel very welcoming. I got the bangers and mash and it was delicious! We played pool there too
One of two main places to eat in the small town end is the one out of the two worth the slightly cheaper menu. Chef specials were great options-particularly the ribeye open sandwich, ribeyes were actually done quite well and we all had a good feast. Fries were actually quite good. Made my expectations of go to pub food and happy with the cost and portion sizes. Friendly locals as well.
Stopped here for lunch, the food was incredible. We had the pie and corn fritters. It was obvious everything was freshly made. Based on our party’s allergy restrictions, they made the fritters gluten free and dairy free.
Such a delicious breakfast! Large indoor seating area with a pool table, darts, and book exchange shelves. Lovely outdoor area for seating and exploring. Also, great snack menu in addition to the menu that can be found on the website. Definitely recommend for a great meal!
Awesome location just 500 meters from the end of the Paparoa trail. Very inviting pub with a fire, delicious food & great friendly service. Highly recommend stopping here for lunch. It was a great end to our tramp.Service: 5/5
First time staying near by- popped into this tavern for dinner and left very satisfied. Awesome couple of blokes behind the bar! Will be sure to return next time
Since we visited on Good Friday, we were very glad that during our vacation we found a place in tiny Punakaiki that could serve us a meal with a beer! We loved the frontier feel of the bar, and the servers were friendly and welcoming. We got an order of the pumpkin and coconut soup — very unusual — and an order of the loaded nachos, which were especially tasty.
We were at the restaurant to have breakfast and it was amazing. The food quality, service and taste were great. Highly recommend this place.Service: 5/5
SENSATIONAL CAFE!! Way better than the tourist trap alternative at Punakaiki. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and well made coffee and food. Would highly recommend to other travellers.
