Puhoi Cottage Tea Rooms is really one of a kind. Situated right alongside the Puhoi River, you get to enjoy nature and observe beautiful views while enjoying a delicious warm cup of tea with some light food. They have a wonderful selection of high-quality flavoursome teas to accompany their scrumptious signature scones – presented in beautiful antique chinaware. Whilst they have other food as well such as sandwiches and soup, the Devonshire Cream Teas are a must have! The tea house was built in the early 1900's and has a wonderful character and warmth to it. It is beautifully decorated and contains many hand-made ornaments and fixtures giving you a cosy homely feeling. The garden is very spacious, dog friendly, and kid-friendly with a 14ft trampoline and many chickens roaming about to keep the kids entertained. The service above all is first class. The owners take pride in what they do, and make you feel warm, welcome, and relaxed. We had an amazing time visiting today and highly recommend the place. We'll be back for sure, thank you for having us! Kid-friendliness: They have a 14ft trampoline and chickens roaming about to keep the kids entertained. Parking: Plenty of parking.
This is an excellent spot for a quick Scone and a warm tea. The owner was very friendly and the scones were the best I have ever had. I had the berry tea and it had lots of flavour. The back garden was spacious and very welcoming. We didn't have to wait long for our food dispite it being quite busy. This place needs to be reconized because it is really worth going to if you're stopping in Puhoi for the day. I will definitely be going there again : Kid-friendliness: This place had a big garden where kids were running around in. There were chickens and other birds hopping along the ground too!
Such a wonderful and organic place. The scones are flaky, breaks apart easily into fluffy and tender pieces, most importantly it doesn't leave the baking soda after taste that I normally get in most scones. I am definitely coming back again.
Best scones I ever had! The pies are excellent. This place is an undiscovered gem! Everything is home made!
What a beautiful location! We had high tea - the food, all made in house, was divine. The hot scones, made freshly for us, were light and fluffy and served with delicious jam and fresh cream. The tea was lovely, with bottomless refills of the tea pot. And there is something peaceful about looking over the garden, watching ducks and chickens foraging whilst sparrows gather for crumbs. The service was also wonderful, friendly but professional. I would thoroughly recommend a visit! N.B. There is other food apart from a high tea, and it looked wonderful!
Such a lovely spot. Quiet gardens, entertaining chickens. Great host The scones were divine. Proper English scones with jam and cream serves beautifully with tea, tea pots unique spoons and serving dishes. It's not a fancy setting but a fancy service. Thank-you! We will be back. Also as it is a restaurant off someones home, make sure to let them know you are coming. I am sure that's helpful when you know what to expect for your day ahead. Parking: Just past the Puhoi pub...
We found this little cafe after going to the market and we loved it there. The menu isn't big but there is a big range of tea to choose from. We got the scones and those scones were some of the best cafe scones I've had for the longest time! Only problem is the cafe is small with little ventilation so the inside did get a little bit hot but there is seating outside if the weather is nice. Would recommend stopping here
Absolutely delicious and truly homemade pies. Plenty of filling and light pastry. I had steak and ale and recommend it. Husband had Moroccan pumpkin soup, again great. The setting is very peaceful, sitting outside in a rustic garden with umbrella shading us. You can sit inside too. The owner is very friendly and brought us a "tasting scone" free as they had just baked a batch. So light you almost had to hold it down. Very few places really do bake their own food but this is one. It's well worth a trip to Puhoi to visit...about 300 metres from the pub. . Parking: Room to par
Best scone I've ever had! Beautiful cottage, and a very nice lady who runs the place. Happened to see her feeding the chickens, ducks, and other birds while we were there, which just added to the quaintness. Cannot recommend highly enough!Food: 5/5
We went to the Puhoi Cottage Tea Rooms yesterday and had a delightful afternoon sitting outside in the sun. The Devonshire teas were delicious - lovely fresh scones, with strawberry jam and fresh cream. The Vegetarian Quiche with chutney was equally delicious. Great service from the lovely hostess. Don't be put off by the road sign at the beginning of the road that says the Cafe is closed. It is definitely open for business. A must visit for those visiting the area. Parking: Plenty of parking right outside the gate.
