Absolutely loved dining here!! Our waitress was new and still learning a lot but very kind and sweet, the food was amazing and filling, drinks were great and the decor inside was absolutely amazing. It wasn't too busy but everyone that was inside looked very happy and comfortable. The owner? an Italian man behind the bar was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend!
From start fo finish, every single plate is amazing and wonderful. Seafood platter with muscle, clams, calamari and fish was flavourfull. Risotto and carbonara was tasty with creamy and rich sauce. The desert: *chef kiss* amazing. Definitely recomend and we will come back for more.
3 starving adults with so many food allergies between us it’s amazing we can eat anything were out looking for comfy seats and great food. We walked past Portafino and stopped. The wonderful smells drew us in. Being we are 3 very loud people we asked to be seated away from others and it wasn’t an issue and that was just the start of our awesome dining experience. An off menu starter was no problem neither were our food allergies and the bread and pizza were so good. But the best part - the staff. Nothing was a problem and they checked on us often. Very friendly and genuine. Will definitely be back when in Palmerston North. Vegetarian options: Lots of choice and staff happy to accommodate any needs. Menu has good selection for vegetarians Wheelchair accessibility: The concrete ramp was wide and not too steep Dietary restrictions: Meals cooked fresh so removing items was no issue. And they did it with a smile
Spaghetti Marinara with extra seafood if my favourite dish at this franchise. The view compared to the Wellington branch overlooking the water and planes taking off from airport only reason couldn't give 5 stars, as Palmy only has a street view. Polite and pleasant attentive staff. Yummy Italian food.
Staff were super friendly, however, the food was terrible. We had a table of 3, 2 at our table ordered chicken dishes one salad and one parma. Both noted the chicken was extremely dry. I had the seafood main. The Prawns were overcooked and almost crispy and the clams were just shells with nothing in them. The majority of the dish was Spaghetti. The restaurant was well set out and felt like a place you could enjoy whether it be with work, friends or family including children, so it's a shame about the food. **Palmerston North location**
Spent almost $110 on dinner for 2 just to get insulted by who I presumed to be the manager. We got 2 cocktails first which were nice, followed by a starter of bruschetta $15.50 for 2 small pieces of bread. I then ordered a chicken salad and my partner ordered fettuccine. Both virtually the same price. The chicken in my salad was dry and definitely wasn't worth the cost. At the end of the meal, the manager said they were all talking in the kitchen about someone who ordered a chicken salad. She proceeded to insult the choice and told me to order something else next time. If she didn't want me ordering a salad, why was it on the menu to begin with? Definitely won't be returning to try other options.
Careful upon opening the water which is at the table when you arrive. It's $10/bottle. Quite a trap for people caught unaware that water which is usually free is actually charged. Owner doesn't mind .. he's gaining $10 so won't be removing them and offering free water which is served. Poor sales .. won't be going back.
Food did not appear to be cooked fresh and more likely microwaved lasagna. Cabonarra sauce was like packet sauce no flavour. Service was great nice looking restaurant, wondered why it was empty. Not recommended
Pizza Margherita with basil dried basil crunches?!?! Are you kidding me Service is terrible too Don’t come here unless you wanna waste your money
The pizza was one of the best and the pasta we ordered were delicious, the staff is very friendly and nice, and the enviroment is peaceful. One of the best italian restaurants I've been to!
