Stopped here for dinner on our way to see the Little Blue Penguins. Had the blue cod and chips which was massive and we ate every bite. The ice cream sundae was awesome. The decor is a bit tired, but it added to the charm of being a local place and not a tourist destination.
A classic NZ pub of the type that is getting hard to find. Lovely service from the owner Sarah C. Only had bar food so cannot comment on main meals. Loved the friendly experience.
We had the best meal and service of our New Zealand trip at the Portobello Hotel and Bistro. The salt and pepper squid, prawn twisters and blue cod were all spectacular. Our server was extremely attentive and helpful.
Nice place. They say there is a good food... we don't know, because they don't have enough stuff in the kitchen and we would have to wait 2 hours or more...
Best pub, best staff and best food. Go there you won't regret! The lamb burger is highly recommended and pizzas are yummy and big. Kids are always welcome and in summer or nice days, it is lovely outside.
