About

Visit the Bay of Islands' must see experience for a unique hands-on experience in the working mission factory and hear stories of the peoples who worked and lived through fascinating times of Treaty-making and war

Story

This French factory was built in pioneer New Zealand to print Maori language books for the Roman Catholic Mission. The last remaining building of a once-crowded mission headquarters, it is New Zealand's oldest Catholic building, and our oldest industrial building.

I hate museums but this was really interesting. The guide was very knowledgeable and everything had been beautifully restored. The tearooms were great too
Fascinating tour, excellent knowledgeable tour guide. Learnt heaps about printing, tanning and early Christianity in NZ. Also has lovely gardens and cafe.
Wow this tour was awesome my two grandchildren were attentive and interested in all the information. I would recommend this as a must place to visit on your Northland holiday.
