A must do. It's a 1 hour guided tour, but Julie, our guide was really good. We learnt so much thanks to her, it was so interesting, and the time went by so fast. If you come to Russell you have to come here.
Such an amazing experience. The guided tour of the printery and the self guided garden walk were amazing. The history and architecture are so beautiful. The cafe and gift shop also had some great goodies.
Whilst not somewhere I was drawn to visit, I had quite a few people say it was worth it and recommend the guided tour in particular. They were not wrong. I arrived for opening and was the only one on the tour with Rongo. She had so much knowledge, and led a brilliant tour from start to finish. I really enjoyed being able to 'take part' in each stage of the leather-making, printing and book-binding. This tour also ties in really well with a visit to the Treaty Grounds. The cafe looked awesome but there was a huge queue, and I was rushing, so I missed out on the pastries this time around!
Run by Heritage NZ, the guided tour tells the amazing story of this place and the French connections! The building and grounds are beautifully restored. Great morning tea and lunch too!
Very nice museum with a beautiful garden and cafe on the terrace!
