Our vessels call at New Zealand ports where both break bulk and container cargo are loaded for Lautoka and Suva in Fiji, the port of Apia in Samoa, Pago Pago in American Samoa and the port of Nukualofa in the Kingdom of Tonga.
In addition to loading all manner of cargo at New Zealand ports for the Pacific Islands, our vessels carry break bulk and containerised cargo between each Pacific Island port we call at (inter island trade from Fiji to Apia, PagoPago and Nukualofa) and also southbound from Pacific Islands to New Zealand.
Polynesian Shipping Line also has the ability to provide Pacific Island customers with shipping arrangements to and from many of the worlds major ports via transship.
The team at Polynesian Shipping Line is focused on providing customers with an efficient, responsive and professional service.
Polynesian Shipping Line was formed by a group of businessmen concerned at the state of shipping services to and from Samoa, in particular the regularity of the service and competiveness of freight rates.
Polynesian Shipping Line commenced operations in September 2005. The Line commenced operation with the vessel Thor Hanne. It soon became apparent that this vessel did not perform to expectations and was replaced by the vessel Matua. Due to increasing demand Matua was replaced by a larger vessel Matua II. MV Ratstor (our fourth vessel) was chartered to replace Matua II.
In May 2011 Polynesian Shipping Line entered into an access agreement with Pacific Direct Line. This Agreement provides Polynesian Shipping Line with a permanent allocation of space on vessels servicing Fiji, Samoa, Amercian Samoa and the Kingdom of Tonga and the inter island trade between these islands. In September 2014, Polynesian Shipping Line was sold by the original shareholders to Neptune Pacific Line Inc.
As a result of the Line entering the Pacific Islands trade there has been a significant improvement in the regularity of shipping services, competitiveness of freight rates and quality of overall service provided.
Polynesian Shipping Line continues to trade as an independent operator. Our key goal is to provide regular, reliable and competitive shipping to Pacific Island communities.
Throughout the Pacific Polynesian Shipping Line uses the services of respected local agents to attend to the needs of local clients.
