Pog Mahones
"Pog Mahone's has been part of the Queenstown pub and dining scene for two decades and is known for its cosy atmosphere, legendary live music and superb food. Plus, you can't go past the perfectly poured guinness. The pub is as authentic as it gets having been designed and built in Ireland before being shipped out to NZ.In summer, take in the spectacular views across Lake Wakatipu from our lakeside beer garden or upstairs balcony. In winter, woodburning fires and hot toddies keep everyone warm - perfect if you've just come down off the ski fields. We serve up a range of Irish and Kiwi cuisine including our ever-popular stonegrill where you can cook your food to your liking on a hot stone.Deals and specials are published on our website."

Absolutely lovely pub. Have been her for many years now. The food is authentic, delicious and extremely consistent. Customer service is lovely and warm. Atmosphere really takes you back. I would certainly book on the weekend as it does get very busy. Two dishes are a “must have”. Beef & Guinness Pie and the Potato and Leak Soup. Of course the Guinness is a must do each and every time. I honestly can’t recommend this place high enough. Just perfection! Below scores are out of 10 Customer Service 10 Food Quality 10 Atmosphere 10 Presentation 9 Location 10 Parking: Lots of parking available. Overall 10 Keep up the amazing work team.
Great place to sit and watch people walk by or just enjoy the atmosphere within the bar. Live musician was on while we were there. Food was really good. Had the Ribs, a baguette and bowl of chips. All the expected drinks in an Irish bar. Even better than Christchurch and actually had Guinness!
We were in desperate need of a good spot to have lunch - so glad we decided to come back here! I had THE BEST Irish Stew, and ordered halloumi fries also good to share as I didn’t expect the portion to be this generous. My boyfriend ordered the Beef & Guinness Pie and loved it as well. Lovely waiters working here and fair prices. Would recommend!
Great place to have lunch. Our barman/waiter was awesome, young english bloke...great to chat with and a very nice person overall. The food was great too, took some photo's of what we had. My wife absolutely loved the prawn and chorizo dish! Just wish the hot-chocolate was better & in saying that, the young chap even ended up making me another one to try top the first one and that was great customer-service....so other than that, can't fault this place. Lovely to sit outdoors as you have a beautiful view of the waterfront. Will definitely be visiting this place again. A+
Stumble upon this charming authentic Irish Bar by accident and what a lovely accident it turned out to be! This bar was so welcoming and the atmosphere could easily be 16k miles away in the heart of Ireland. Although compact in size this bar is packed with interesting artifacts, memorabilia, photos and paintings of interest. To top our experience a music quartet were giving us a treat of Irish folk music. Loved it!!
Incredible service and experience. A beautiful traditional style Irish bar and restaurant. The waiter was lovely and very friendly and honestly made the night so much better. Food and drinks were delicious
Delicious pie! Largest one I’ve eaten so far. Beautiful ribs - tasty and fall off the bone tender. Great food. It was busy place so was a little difficult to get service. That being said it is a really casual place so can’t blame em!
Try the stone grill, it comes out raw and you cook it yourself, adding salt, pepper and butter. It was fabulous. Of course the beer and liquor choices were great as well.Food: 5/5
we just got the best Sunday Roast here for $22 ! The roasted pork & vegetables and potato mash , red wine jus, Yorkshire pudding, It was just perfect !
Visited Pog Mahones several times whilst in Queenstown. The pub is great, staff are really friendly and the venue overall is nice and cosy. Whenever, we were both pretty disappointed with the food here. For the price you pay, the portion sizes were small and overall the food was a disappointment.
