Frustrated and Cheated, Travelling without WiFi is like you don't bring passport and credit cards.I traveled to WA - Perth, Fremantale as far to Mandurah.The 8 days nightmare is pocket WiFi PocWiFi is works like analogue we waste for rental and plus cost to purchase local data network. Worst customer service at all. Don't be cheated by glossy promised.
I've been booking pocwifi modems with you for several weeks now which have been great!
Used it all over the North Island. Only time we could not get a connection was in remote areas where there is no data connection anyway. Mostly used it for navigation and updating via WhatsApp and Facebook. Didn't try streaming stuff much. Battery lasted almost a complete day. Setup is very easy. It was much easier than fiddling with sim cards, and really convenient.
We rented through this company because it was < $10 USD per day and it supposedly had 4G. We picked it up in SYD airport. We were also traveling between Australia and New Zealand so we wanted something that would work in both places. When you are outside the major cities, you won't get any reception eg Milford Sound. You will get reception at Te Anau though. One minor inconvenience for me is that the network wasn't strong enough for me to sign onto discord. It is strong enough to send images via your favorite chat program eg whatsapp, wechat, google hangouts but it is a little slow. It also sometimes work with FaceTime. It works great for getting directions around the major cities. It was strong enough to use waze, uber, and google driving directions. It was not strong enough to download stuff from the Apple Store. I say for the price, you can't beat it and for the internet addicts, it allows you to stay connected to the net.
The pocket wifi never worked for the whole trip. The guy at the pick up said there was a buttom that will turn blue but it never did so we called them. However, the number on the website is useless. They don't pick up. We emailed them but no reply. Really really bad service and support.
Worst service I have ever received. Website let me book a device to take to New Caledonia and only found out that the device doesn't have there. After I spent long time trying to sort out with customer service ... I think these people can be a little more responsible for the service they said they will provide. I do not recommend at all.
A very poor connection during my trip in Auckland. Cannot access to any internet at all time. It even take 2mins to download a photo from WhatsApp. Strongly not recommended!
Used it for 1 week in Oct 2017 in Sydney and its nearby suburbs and the internet connection is horrendous all over especially inside the train when it started moving. Only text based messages would come in, can't post images at all. I complained immediately but no immediate response. Even their rebate mechanism is problematic. Again, please refrain from taking this service. Better off getting a dedicated SIM instead. I can't believe how much I paid 100 aud for such a lousy service
Would also rate a 0 star with this company. DOES NOT ACCEPT CALLS, the 0800 number doesn't even exist. no service provided from this company at all. Not recommended at all.
Rented a unit for 12 days in New Zealand. First 2 days kept running into an error whenever i try to access the internet, it says my data limit has been exceeded but i'm supposed to have unlimited wifi usage. Contacting them was extremely difficult because I did not have a NZ phone number and had to rely on free wifi to email them and can only read their reply at the next free wifi spot. Which is ironic since i'm supposed to have internet access 24/7 with pocwifi. After they resolved the data limit issue, i was able to connect to the internet for the rest of my trip. However, internet speeds were so bad loading a google search could time out. Waiting for a picture to load could take up to a minute and videos were completely out of the question. Coming from the country with the fastest internet speed in the world, it was the most frustrating nightmare i've ever had with an internet connection overseas. I paid over a hundred dollars just to get intermittent internet connection at best. Would rate zero stars if I could.
