Recently got back from a solo trip exploring and hiking the South Island. Best trip of my life in the best van! If you go with Piwiwiwi you’ll have the most practical van in the campground and top-tier service/comms to go with it. Nick’s a great bloke and has put a lot of thought into his vans/business. Can’t recommend highly enough!
Piwiwiwi is the real deal! Nick and Julie have the best campervans to explore New Zealand. This is my second time renting with Piwiwiwi and won't be my last. The campervans are designed with functionality and efficiency in mind and are outfitted with all the essentials you might need during your travels, including cookware, linens, towels, and chairs. The fridge, stovetop, and sink are easy to use, and the bed is comfortable for two people. The van also has ample storage room and space for two people to navigate. I’ve never had to use the toilet in the van as there are facilities with showers and toilets available throughout the many holiday parks. The van is also extremely easy to handle and drive, and the lower gears are invaluable for steep and winding mountain driving. The van is nondescript and not covered in logos, which is a bonus. The best part of Piwiwiwi though is the level of genuine and kind service they provide, from the airport pickup/drop-off, to Nick’s thorough tour of the van with detailed instructions on all the components. Piwiwiwi goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable, happy, and ready for a seamless trip. If you are thinking of renting a campervan, then Piwiwiwi is the right choice!
The vans are great. Nick gives you a comprehensive rundown of what's what in the van too, and extras are included in the price whereas other companies will charge, such as a French press, fleece blanket, heater, picnic tables and chairs. Was very comfortable and has all you need for a trip. Didn't miss hotels as I thought I might in the 16 days. Plenty of showers and toilets to be used around the place too so didn't need to use the van toilet. Great fridge which is bigger than it looks. And good storage options for food & gear etc. Would definitely hire a van from piwiwiwi again
This is our second time renting from Piwiwiwi, and we wouldn’t choose any other company. Their campers are reasonably priced and come equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The airport pick-up and drop-off are super convenient, though returning the van on the last day is always a bit of a downer! Nick was just a call or message away if we needed anything during our trip. Highly recommend these guys!
I rented a Piwiwiwi van for 8 days and I feel so lucky to have secured such a well laid out and quality vehicle. Everything you would want in the van is there, clearly a great deal of care has gone into the needs of a van traveller. Piwiwiwi has done all the heavy lifting for you, you just need to show up, get your keys, and enjoy.nnThe smaller size of the Hi Ace was perfect for me, who had never driven a van or RV before. Unlike other van rental companies, there are no logos on the van, so no one can tell if you are a local with a cool Hi Ace conversion or a tourist.nnI have a bit of a bad back and am a light sleeper so I was worried I’d get no sleep in the back of the van. I needn’t have worried. The foam cushions in back were very comfortable and I ended up sleeping better in the van than at home ironically enough.nnBeyond all this, Piwiwiwi is a family run business with a passion for renting high quality and relatively affordable vehicles. All my interactions with Nick were wonderful before, during, and after the trip.nnIf you want to rent a small van for your South Island NZ trip I don’t think you can do better than renting from Piwiwiwi.
