About

Welcome to the Pirongia Clydesdales & Friesian Horses page. Boutique breeding stud and professional carriage driving tutors and advisers.

Story

We're located in historical Pirongia Village, in the heart of the Waikato, New Zealand. Our barn-style function centre and Coach House Cafe provides the perfect venue for family or corporate outings. We can also provide enjoyable wagon ride village tours with our gentle giant Clydesdale horses or our beautiful Dutch Friesian horses.

Come and visit the Pirongia Clydesdales and Friesian horses at their home base and enjoy our delicious country-style food and award-winning coffee. There's plenty for the children to see and do, with a number of rare and interesting farm animals on site. Our cafe/venue is also available for country weddings and functions - please see our website for more photos and detailed information.

Our Clydesdale horses have become a national icon, and are extremely well known for their years working in the public spotlight for DB Breweries. These days the Clydesdales are available for a wide range of public events including weddings, street parades, A&P Shows and VIP Events.

Outside of the Pirongia township and down a driveway so easily missed unless looking for it. Have only stopped for coffee and cake so not sure what rest of food is like but the ginger slice I had was very nice and they had a great selection of gluten free. Nice country style decor
Excellent cafe and farm site. Great for a travel stop, lunch or dinner. Friendly and helpful staff. Families, groups and travelers will enjoy this place. Flat safe farm stables and paddocks with easy parking, to view the horses and animals. Live music and comedy show events. Lots of working horse and machinery memorabilia. Take a trip back in time to the pioneering working horse and coach days. Enjoyed a relaxing brunch outside and farm visit, on a beautiful late spring November day. Great value.
A true gem in an idyllic part of New Zealand. My husband, known to be sparse with compliments, repeated several times that his breakfast special poached eggs, ham, mushroom sauce, hash brown was the best breakfast he's ever had. So glad we happened upon this excellent cafe!
I don't usually write reviews, but came here with a group today and was a bit disappointed. Service was somewhat friendly, but not a lot of effort to please the customer. Menu was just a blackboard above the counter, meal service to the table was atrocious, as my hot chocolate was 'claimed' by another Shane. Some table numbers would have been nice.
The cafe was ok and kid friendly but was lacking something. Menu was ok but not very extensive
