Absolutely the best place we stayed in New Zealand! The mountain view chalets are gorgeous; you can hear the waterfalls from the outdoor picnic area. The service was exceptional. The lodge arranged for a shuttle to and from the Deep Water Basin dock for our day hike as well as the airport. They also brought us a delicious and very large breakfast. Would 100% recommend!!! Pio Pio Cafe had delicious food with great vegetarian options.
Nice campingsite, but at dinnertime the kitchen was crowded and it was a long wait for one of the two laundry machines to be free. The kitchen is too small for that many campers and we had to wait a bit to be able to use it in the evening. No ovens. Also when we were there there were 10 kids in the dining area, some of them watching TV or shows on the phone of their parents or playing loudly. Obviously the Lodge can't do anything against this but it was a bit annoying the first night. The second night there were no kids and we had a nice and peaceful night in the dining area, which is by the way very comfortable furnished with couches. The showers and toilets very quite clean and the pressure was really good in the cabins. There were enough of them so you didn't have to wait. The area is obviously beautiful! The staff was also very friendly and helpful! We would come back even though its a bit more expensive than other campsites.
This is the best accommodation I've ever stayed in. It's expensive but it's special. The views are spectacular. I didn't want to go anywhere, just wanted to sit outside my room and look at the fabulous vista. The rooms are well furnished, tasteful and with all conveniences.
This is a magical place to stay. The mountain / river / waterfall views from the rooms are incredible - we sat and watched / listened to it for hours. Food was also great at the Pio Pio restaurant - make sure to book for dinner as it gets busy but well worth it. Brilliant location if you plan on going for a cruise / kayaking.
We stayed in a powered site in an RV. The facilities surpassed expectations, being very clean and well kept. We ate dinner at Pio Pio and it was an exceptional. The food was amazing, and our server Peter was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. Would absolutely recommend.Service: 5/5
We recently stayed here a night while checking out Milford Sound. The lodge itself is amazing, the staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. We booked a powered camper van site. Which was spaced apart from others and is rather private aswell. Plenty of amenities which are clean. We had dinner at the in house restaurant Pio Pio. Such a delicious meal! Our waiter was such a friendly and welcoming energy. Really enjoyed talking to him and his wine recommendations were on point! Highlight dish was the crispy elk ribs. Crispy, tender, served with some pickled veggies which cut through the fattiness. Really well balanced dish. The sticky date pudding was an absolute winner as well. Moist and soft, loved the addition of the berries. Was morish without being too heavy, a perfect end to an amazing meal. Don’t forget the twice cooked potatoes, to mop up all the sauce from your mains!
A great stay with amazing view from our room. The included breakfast was also amazing especially the honey. For dinner, my favourite is the mushroom soup and Fiordland venison. Staff at the Lodge were super helpful. My son felt sick one night and vomited in the bed. The staff came, cleaned up and changed our bedsheet right away. Will definitely stay again in the future.
Everything about the Milford Sound lodge is just superp maybe only the price, but it is what to expect when it's the only place to stay in the area. The chalets are divine. Absolutely beautiful and nice to stay at with the most amazing views. Every day you receive an email on breakfast requests you can also talk to them in the reception and breakfast will be delivered to you in a wooden box on your selected time the following day. The food was great. Through the lodge you can book activities. I booked the Roscoes sea kayaking trip and the Southern Discoveries boating trip. Both are great but will in particular recommend doing the kayaking trip if you can. Amazing experince - and actually hope for rain while your doing it and are here in general. Beautiful.
Fantastic cabin right on the edge of the river. Dinner at Pio Pio restaurant was superb, compliments to the chef, I had the wild venison which was cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and friendly efficient service.Rooms: 5/5
Absolutely stunning setting in the national park and thankful that we were able to secure a room despite the last minute booking. The service was reasonable and the rooms were well-appointed. We had dinner at the restaurant and felt that the food was decent, but not exceptional/commensurate with the rest of the lodge. I understand that they have been trying to staff up from the pandemic and hope that they are able to do some updates to the dinner menu. The in-room breakfast was excellent.
