We visited Pic’s Peanut Butter World in Stoke with our multi-generational group and it was one of the highlights of our South Island trip. The tour lasts about an hour and is very engaging for all ages.nnThe guide was friendly and informative, taking us through the full production process—from roasting in the big oven to grinding and jar-filling—while sharing the inspiring story of how the founder started with a simple idea, a converted cement mixer for roasting, and determination that turned it into New Zealand’s leading peanut butter brand in around 20 years.nnEveryone loved making their own peanut butter on the bicycle-powered grinder, and the tastings were excellent: fresh warm peanut butter straight off the line, honey a natural pairing, the Whittaker’s chocolate collaboration a standout, and the new Sea Salt & Pepper flavour surprisingly delicious—you wouldn’t expect it to work so well, but it does.nnYou get a real behind-the-scenes look at a working factory with a quick health & safety briefing, and the mezzanine views are great.nnWe left impressed, with a few jars in hand as part of the tour tickets and plenty of smiles. Highly recommend this stop if you’re in Nelson—fun, informative, and tasty for the whole family.
I was in Nelson for a work trip and happened to drive past Pic’s Peanut Butter World. I returned the next day when I had a spare hour—and I’m so glad I did.nnAlthough the tours were fully booked, the team was incredibly friendly and kindly squeezed me in. Our guide, Tania, was excellent—knowledgeable, engaging, and with a great sense of humour.nnIt was a fantastic way to learn how Pic’s Peanut Butter became globally recognised, as well as to see the production lines in action. We also had the chance to taste different peanut butters, which was a real treat.nnA lovely bonus—you get a free jar of peanut butter at the end! Highly recommended if you’re in Nelson.
Well worth the tour! Our guide was great, telling us how Pic Picton grew the business from a stall in Nelson Market 19 years ago to what it is today, making 50,000 jars a day, all from this tiny factory. And we made our own peanut butter too!
Great tour, even though we did it when the facotry was not working. Enough time to know how it is done and how it all started. You get a chance to make your own sample by biking. My kids won a big bucket of peanut butter for asking questions : Great coffee and food at the café too.
A must visit in Nelson! So amazing to be able to see where all the peanut butter is made. Super informative and fun tour with lots to see and try. Very fun to sample the different flavours and to see all the merchandise and unique products. Plus a free jar of peanut butter included in the tour price!
