INTERNATIONAL / INDIAN STUDENTS — DO NOT STUDY AT WELTEC PETONE BEAUTY therapy PROGRAM: TOXIC, RACIST, AND TRASHY nnI was daily harassed, sidelined, and mocked, yet here’s the part that matters: they failed.nI survived, rebuilt, and I’m now very happy, thriving, in a very good place in life— and yes, karma is very real .nnI studied at WELTEC’s Beauty Therapy program, Petone campus, 2005 now part of Whitireia & WelTec.nnFor years, this place was not even important enough for me to write about.nNow, I have the time, and resources to share my experience.nnAs a foreign student and non-Caucasian NZ citizen, I was deliberately and repeatedly sidelined, mocked, and harassed, by the students in my group/course, pushed to the brink of depression, while tutors actively spurred students on instead of stopping it.nAt the time, I also had very young children, which made the situation even more distressing.nnIn my opinion, the majority of students in my study course, all female, were very trashy, catty, nasty and cruel, and the tutors were equally trashy and deeply unprofessional, often gossiping about personal sexual exploits instead of teaching — in my opinion, a clear reflection of the culture allowed to thrive there.nThe Petone campus program coordinator at the time even brought her boyfriend into class at lunch times to use a student massage bed — completely unprofessional disgusting and disruptive.nnThe student association — supposedly there to support students — did the exact opposite, siding with management and offering no meaningful help at all.nnI raised multiple complaints with management, including the program coordinator of the Beauty program at Petone, who, in my experience, was the most trashy, dismissive, and unprofessional, and who ignored, ridiculed, and repeatedly sidelined me.nThe department head/CEO in the main admin office was clearly hand-in-glove, offering performative concern, wasting my time with long, useless emails, and delivering zero real support.nnIt felt like they all existed to take my money and treat me as a non-entity,as soon as the cooling off period of about two weeks was over this is for fee refund if you want to exit within that time, they played all goody goody and sweet up until that date.nThey tried to break my spirit — and here’s the funny part — it didn’t work .nI rebuilt my life on my own terms. I am now in a very good place in life.nI don’t need to explain how — the fact that I did speaks for itself.nnAs for karma? I am a firm believer. I have heard — and I cannot verify, but life has a way of balancing things — that some of those involved later faced serious health issues, damaged careers, or relationship/marriage breakdowns .nKarma doesn’t need my help; it works on its own timeline — and I can’t stop smiling knowing it’s still reaching those it hasn’t yet .nnIf I could give it a big fat ZERO or less than zero I would, but 1-star seems to be the lowest selection here for reviews. 1 Star seems extraordinarily excessive!nn ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS PROGRAM AND THIS PLACE. nI gained no value, only prolonged distress. There are far better institutions where students are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.nDo not make the same mistake I made — and just know, I thrived where they failed .
Very pleasant atmosphere, the esthetician students are very committed, are conscientious, the teacher was always present for all questions and to be an excellent support.
Finance Department DOES NOT PICK UP CALLS.nnif you are being threated with debt collection and you have been trying to contact this campus's financial administrator. They will pick up the phone about 0/10 times. Study elsewhere.
Absolutely great place to study — the courses and teachers are amazing. Unfortunately, many people in my class constantly messed around, often came in stoned, and disrupted the lessons. The teacher couldn’t do much about it since they were adults, which made it hard for everyone else to learn.
I highly recommend WelTec for anyone looking to gain both practical and theoretical knowledge in software development. Their Software Development Degree provides a strong foundation in programming, project management, and the essential mathematics needed to succeed in the industry.nnI studied at WelTec for three years and now work in a full stack software development role. The experience was invaluable. The staff are not only friendly but also extremely knowledgeable, offering thorough guidance across a wide range of technologies. If you're looking for a supportive and well-rounded learning environment, WelTec is an excellent choice.
