Overall a good experience, although staff were particularly terse and lacked the sensibilities of cafe staff. Didn’t bother me but I can see it bothered others in the review. This place is EXPENSIVE. Sausage/apple roll was $15, I’ve seen a similar sized roll for $8 at other cafes and even that’s expensive. $10 milkshakes seemed a bit excessive too. They also charge 15% on public holidays. Wouldn’t return but I didn’t have a bad experience.
Great little cafe in a small town. Staff are friendly and try their best to help. Food is delicious - try the apple and yogurt cake and the salmon quiche. Great setting to sit outside. Highly recommend. Parking: Plenty offstreet parking available
We stopped here as part of our guided tour experience Hobbiton + Waitomo and got ice creams and drinks. They serve Tip Top ice creams - we were recommended to get the Hokey Pokey but got the passion fruit and boysenberry ones instead and I’m really glad we did The staff were very friendly and had a nice bit of a chat. We didn’t order coffee or food so can’t speak to that but we grabbed some black currant juice from the cooler and the two ice creams in cups, it was a reasonable and good experience My only gripe was the same lady filled both mine and my partners cups and he got a LOT more boysenberry ice cream than I got passion fruit : but it’s not even worth taking one star off. Nice seating outside except it was very windy when we were there so we just stayed on the seats inside. Good spot for a break if you’re driving!
This is a nice coffee stop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It has a large parking area. Tourist buses stop here so factor that in in terms of wait times and seating space. The service was friendly and fast. The outdoor area is extensive but feels under utilised. Small kids playground or other shade seating could help.
Stopped here for a bite of lunch today and was disappointed. This business used to be great. We have much enjoyed stops here I the past. It is now just dirty. It smells dirty, floors and walls need a good scrub and cups and cutlery were dirty. Staff were unwelcoming and flat, no smiles or engagement. It's a pity because it used to be really good. Parking: Lots of potholes in carpark.
My wife and I stopped for a coffee and I can honestly say it was the worst coffee I’ve ever tasted anywhere not just in New Zealand! I couldn’t even finish it. Further to the owner’s response below:- 1 As I had a long black it definitely was nothing to do with the type of milk! 2 I don’t have and never have had covid! Please just accept that whatever the reason the coffee served to me that day was awful as it was weak, watery and lacking any flavour! It may have been a one off but that doesn’t change the fact that it was undrinkable!
Lovely coffee shop, fast and friendly staff. My flat white was great, enjoyed every sip of it. Newspapers available for customers in comfy couches next to the entrance. Seating outside is a must in a sunny day like today. Toilet was clean and in order. Seems to be quite popular, with plenty of parking and easy to find.
Kids loved their eggs and waffles. We loved the cooked big breakfast. Delicious! Coffees good too.Food: 5/5
Stopped by on the way through to New Plymouth this morning looking for some breakfast. Absolutely amazing food, and kind staff. Would definitely recommend! Hope to stop by again soon.
I love this cafe! It's such a peaceful atmosphere, lovely staff and really genuine food which is all made in-house. This time I had a Lamb, Rosemary and Red Wine pie and it was gorgeous. To round it out there is a huge dog friendly garden seating area. Well worth the drive from Hamilton.
