Lovely welcoming atmosphere with the fire going on a chilly Friday evening. Always a pleasure with an expertly made Aperol Spritz and tonight even more so with a mixed platter delivered from Indigo Rooms across the alley
Great bar for a cocktail, wine, beer or spirit. Really nice atmosphere. Has a real speakeasy feel about it, through the secret door, if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't know it was there!
Great ambience, is suitable for a drink before dinner, and not overly crowded and noisy. Charlie was so friendly and attentive!
Came on new years eve for cocktails. Walked out cause the 2 bar tenders ignored us completely. Checked out the menu and waited to be greeted, but nothing. Waste of a few steps down an alley way.
What happened to Pequeno! The staff are just rude! Was here with a group of friends we were 1 of 2 groups in the bar 2 staff were on, that were more interested in their own conversations than acknowledging their customers waiting to order a drink. Waited at the bar for 10+ mins still no acknowledgment A quick 'Sorry, won't be a minute' would not of hurt. When the time came to place an order, the bartender simply said "Yes? Did not even look up from the bar and not another word was spoken. After I ordered, the eftpos terminal was thrown up onto the bar and the bartender disappeared! It was quite an unexpected and surprising performance. Watched a group of 6 walk in afterwards, the staff continued their own conversation for 6 minutes before even acknowledging this group. Would not waste any more money at Pequeno, it is quiet apparent that the staff are not interested in running a Cocktail bar.
Nice little bar down an alleyway in central Dunedin. Open fire, couches, and nice ambience.
Came in on New years eve specifically for cocktails around 9.30pm when it wasn't busy, probably 10 people in there. Walking into the bar the staff glanced over while still talking to each other completely ignoring us, we looked through the menu for a few minutes and tried to get the bar tenders attention by looking over a few times. We ended up just walking out. The bartenders weren't serving anyone the whole time we were there infact no one was around the bar but us, straight out rude guys.
We were so indulged by our host, Alex. This guy is gonna be a star! With a little chat about what we were looking for, Alex would deftly prepare the most exquisite and/or extraordinary drink we'd ever tasted - upping the ante every time. Hit his signature negroni first, sit back and take in your surroundings. You won't regret it.
Judging by the number of people here the night we went, Pequeno needs no boosting. Still… Call me an old man but I love a cosy bar with a fire and some great music but not too loud and great drinks - that’s Pequeno. Totally hits the spot. We went for a special reason and I have to say the guy behind the bar, whose name I didn’t get, sorry was just amazing. Thank you. Dunedin. Winter. Pequeno. Perfect.
