Fantastic day, despite the weather growing cold, windy & wet as the day progressed.nRoss the skipper, and crewman Mark were friendly, humorous & very informative.nA great way to experience the Sounds and see the mail and other goods being delivered to remote residents and their friendly tail wagging dogs! nAwesome scenery. Lucky to see a fur seal sunbathing on the rocks.nLunch at Te Rawa Restaurant was delicious - I recommend the seafood chowder and the mussels.nI also recommend that the staff member at check-in represent the Pelorus Mail Boat in a more personable and less abrupt manner.nFirst impressions are important.
This boat trip was a highlight of our New Zealand tour. Great weather helped of course but the scenery was stunning, the commentary was informative given by a friendly crew. The farm visit was fascinating. We highly recommend this tour from Havelock.
What an outstanding day!nThe extremely! skilled skipper had the most wonderful, dry sense of humour, and I’m still chortling over some of his clever and very interesting commentary 24 hours later.nHis crew member… what a lovely lady! She made us feel right at home from the get go. Brilliant!nThis is a day for everyone - the stunning scenery, the laughter and, for kids, tame sheep, every shape of Sounds dogs, goats, and a very special kunekune pig. And that’s not including the dusky dolphins, fur seals, shearwaters and the stingray gliding underneath some of the jetties.nAn amazing day and highly recommended. Sorry about the rubbish photo quality!nOne tip for future travellers? It may be beautiful and sunny, but in winter you cannot take enough clothing and wind-cheaters! But the air is so crisp and the water so blue….
Despite it being a cloudy day with a chilly wind, it was an excellent day trip. The skipper is very skilled and has a great knowledge of the area and wildlife. We were made very welcome. A member of our party is in a wheelchair and she was treated very courteously. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thank you all.
A really well worthwhile introduction to the Marlborough Sounds. It's a safe and relatively smooth trip inside the sounds so no need to worry about seasickness. Loads of picture opportunities as you come into tiny picturesque jettys and greet the folk and their dogs. The skipper and mate keep up a greatly informative guide to the people and places you visit.
