Big roomy pub. Huge beer selection. Friendly staff. We got small fries to share for two ppl and it was plenty! Also got beef and Guinness pie and the sunday pork roast. The pie was flaky and the filling was gooood! Not dry and just enough juices. The roast gravy was wayyyy too salty unfortunatelybut the serving was generous!
Beautiful food and awesome music, tho its definitely a pub for the locals
Quick good service. Large portions. Nice atmosphere and good location. Vege burger okay, Bangers & Mash tasty.
This lovely pub was recommended by a work colleague and it didn't disappoint. Stopped in for lunch, Food and service was excellent. Had the UFC on also, so my partner was very happy. Felt like being back in the UK being a proper Irish pub. Would definitely return if we were to return to New Plymouth
Friendly as bar staff they were great! Food was very average unfortunately. Lamb shanks said they come with gravy and it was like an Indian masala version of lamb shank also the steak was suppose to be medium rear but was very well done.
Worst meal I have ever had. So much we both only had one mouthful. The chicken fettuccine was swimming in some brown sauce which I could only describe as instant gravy with cream added The pork belly on menu said crunchy with roast vegetables we got soggy with boiled carrots and broccoli mashed potato and what I am certain was instant gravy. We left our meals in front of us virtually untouched. The staff walked by our table several times without even asking if there was a problem. We then took our meals to the bar and told them our problem with the meals and they just looked at us blankly and said OK. No offer of a refund. Absolutely disgusted!!!
The food is unreal, big portions, great Guinness and sound staff.
Lovely meal as usual and always a must when visiting New Plymouth. However the Guinness was far too cold which resulted in the flavour not being what it should have been!
Love Peggy's, always a good vibe . Not the same as it used to be obviously but it's really nice and kept the old Peggy's decor just modernized abit. Food is good too
Your tipical bar.. got the lamb shank, but came with boiled broccoli and cauliflower instead of roast vegetables that was stated on the menu. The gravy tasted more like butter chicken gravy which was odd. I'm assuming the chef is indian? It was delicious though.. Also took 50mins for food to arrive and the veggies were not hot.. I'm guessing that there is only one person in the kitchen or there's another dining area in the building I'm unaware of completely full of diners as there were very little people in the place and they were mostly just drinking.
