This annual event is an endurance race run by a group of keen Tairua Lifeguards. 2018 will see a similar course to previous years accomplishing the two main peaks of Tairua and Pauanui.
The event will begin at the Tairua Surf Life Saving Club, where athletes will make their way up Tairua's famous Mount Paku via the Oceania coastal track to the summit reaching the trig point.
Athletes will then descend to the Paku Wharf where they will enter the water and swim across to Pauanui beach. At the end of the long 3km stretch of golden white sand, athletes will then embark on the steep climb to the trig point of Mount Pauanui. As athletes reach this peak a turn around is made to head back to where they have come, along the beach to Tairua, completing the event at the Tairua Surf Life Saving Club.
Total running metres approx- 13000m
Total elevation approx- 600m
