Peace Experiment is a Montessori Secondary School. Our students are from 11 - 18 years old in Auckland, New Zealand

Story

Peace matters.
Our experiment explores what education for peace looks like in our community and environment.
What if learning in a student centred, environmentally conscious, individually respectful, and prepared environment nurtures peace? What if education aims to support global human development?
Can everyone be a creative and an innovative thinker, a caring nurturer, and a compassionate leader?

Peace Experiment follows the motivation of each student, respecting individual rights, creating a customised curriculum by responding to unique interests and abilities.

Promoting the development of personal, social and global responsibility, the New Zealand curriculum is used to support independence, and resilience: our three R's are Responsibility, Respect and Rights.

The syllabus responds to the core individual.

The four pillars of learning are fundamental principles for reshaping education:

Learning to know: to provide the cognitive tools required to better comprehend the world and its complexities, and to provide an appropriate and adequate foundation for future learning.

Learning to do: to provide the skills that would enable individuals to effectively participate in the global economy and society.

Learning to be: to provide self analytical and social skills to enable individuals to develop to their fullest potential psycho-socially, affectively as well as physically, for a all-round ‘complete person.

Learning to live together: to expose individuals to the values implicit within human rights, democratic principles, intercultural understanding and respect and peace at all levels of society and human relationships to enable individuals and societies to live in peace and harmony."
