"Using a healing touch to help comfort, support and bring a sense of well-being to your dog"
Kia ora my name is Rebecca and PawFace has been a dream of mine for a long time and after much hard work it has now come to fruition.
Since a very young age I was animal mad; my parents use to find me sitting quietly in our dogs kennel watching with fascination as she gave birth to her puppies or running around my Aunty's farm helping her with all her animals. As I grew up I knew deep down that I would work with animals in some form or another, and no matter what other areas I tried to work in I always ended up back with the animals again especially dogs
I have a Bachelor in Applied Science where I majored in Animal Welfare and Management which gave me a great foundation and also opened my eyes up to he welfare of our animals. I also have over 15 years work experience with animals, namely dogs and cats and have been fortunate enough to have worked in Thailand and Sri Lanka assisting with their spay and neuter programs.
My interest in massage was sparked while working with the paralysed dogs in Sri Lanka. Even though many would never walk again we still gave them massage to keep the other parts of their body health and to keep the circulation going in the parts that weren't working so well. This also included putting life-jackets on them and jumping in the ocean to give them some hydrotherapy. Was an amazing experience and one that I am very blessed to have been a part of.
Once I returned to NZ I enrolled into the Certificate of Canine Myofunctional Therapy at the National College of Traditional Medicine in Melbourne Australia. I completed my certificate in 2017 and after a few months of planning and late nights I am pleased that I can now offer Canine massage and animal Reiki to the Bay of Plenty.
PawFace's mission is to improve the quality of life for our furry companions through therapeutic massage and Reiki. Dogs, or any animal for that matter, that are well-balanced physically and psychologically live a happier, healthier and longer life. The benefits of massage for our four-legged friends are huge. We ourselves know all to well the benefits of massage so these same principles apply for dogs as well.
