When you’re in Queenstown, this ice cream spot is an absolute must. As someone who genuinely loves ice cream and never skips a chance to try a standout scoop, this was high on my list—and it did not disappoint.nYes, the line can look intimidating at first, but it moves surprisingly fast, which actually works in your favor because it gives you time to stare at the flavors, panic a little, and rethink your choice multiple times. Every option looks incredible.nWe both ordered cones dipped in chocolate, and they did not hold back. The chocolate coating was thick, glossy, and perfectly snappy—already decadent before the ice cream even entered the picture. Then came the scoops… massive, generous, and clearly meant to be enjoyed without restraint.nI tried the coconut stracciatella, a flavor I had never seen before, and honestly, it was one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. Ultra-creamy coconut base with delicate shards of chocolate throughout—rich but not overwhelming, indulgent yet balanced. Every bite was better than the last.nThey are incredibly generous with both the portions and the chocolate, to the point where we were genuinely struggling to finish our cones not that we were complaining. It’s rich, indulgent, and completely satisfying.nIf you love ice cream even a little, this place is non-negotiable. One of those stops you’ll still be thinking about long after you’ve left Queenstown.
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Patagonia Chocolates.nnI stopped in for ice cream, but honestly everything here deserves a mention. The chocolate ice cream is next level - deeply rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. You can really taste the quality of the chocolate, and it’s easily some of the best I’ve had.nnThe pastries are just as impressive. Fresh, beautifully made, and clearly crafted with care. Each bite feels indulgent without being heavy, and they pair perfectly with the drinks on offer. Speaking of drinks, every one we tried was excellent - from hot chocolates to coffee, everything was well made and comforting, especially on a cooler day.nnThe whole place feels thoughtfully put together, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to sit and enjoy rather than rush off. Service was friendly and relaxed, which really adds to the experience.nnIf you’re a chocolate lover, this place is an absolute must. Ice cream, pastries, drinks - all phenomenal. I’ll definitely be back.
Patagonia Chocolates gives huge scoops of ice cream. On our first visit, we got two scoops in a cup for $11 NZD!nnWe had the Dark Chocolate and Dulce de Leche. Dark Chocolate was intense and rich, and Dulce de Leche was super caramel-y. As with most ice cream, it’s definitely on the sweeter side, so sharing and drinking water after is recommended.nnThere’s a good range of flavours available, including non-dairy options.nnOn our second visit, we tried the hot chocolate and a latte. The hot chocolate was velvety and rich without being unbearably sweet. It didn’t hit the throat in that cloying way, just smooth and comforting.nnThere’s plenty of seating, and having your ice cream by the lake is also a lovely experience. Portions are super generous, great for sharing, and honestly worth every penny.
Love the ice cream from Patagonia, the selection was wide and has popsicle style with toppings or regular scopes.nnThe selection of cakes and chocolate bar was great too, a good gift option to get something here for someone you love.nnThere are a lot of indoor seating at two levels but the best way to go about is still strolling around the town with ice cream and check out the lake right in front of the shop.nnAt 7.5 for single scoop or 9.50 w cone, this is a really great option to get something sweet for a mid day recharge.
We love it so much we ate it everyday for 4 days. I’m allergic to nuts so the signature macadamia was out of my options. However the coffee and cream and strawberry and cream more than made up for that. Amazing portions with premium ingredients made this feel like a must have experience while visiting Queenstown.
