Well the food was good, pork ribs was a good dish. The fire was great on a cold night. The lady in charge for the night seemed a little stressed and they weren't even that busy. We had to keep asking for thing. Dinner out is an easy way to see your products and they didn't do that very well.Service: 3/5
good room, 4 single beds in one unit for a fair price. 2 beds downstairs and 2 upstairs very close together. the fan oil heater was on when we checked in. there were 2 thin throw over blankets not 4. the heat rises to the upper part of the room where the 2 cramped single beds are. you can also hear the next room over when trying to sleep, especially footsteps. for dinner I had the scotch steak, kumara mash and veges... although cooked to medium rare, the meal was flavourless - a surprising $42 letdown. there are 2 spas, water temp was okay. each can fit 4, but more suitable for 2. overall, great value for the room. good location, and a nice view of the mountain. however, dinner needs some flavour
Comfortable rooms for 2 people. The water pressure in the shower is incredible. This was a perfect base of operations for our hiking trip. The dinner is often delicious, and a nice selection of beer, cider and wine. Plus the view from the patio is amazing! Rooms: Comfortable rooms for 2 people. Late check-in made for an easy, after-hours arrival. Room was clean and comfortable, and the heater had thoughtfully already been turned on. Minimal shelf space in the bathroom makes it hard to navigate, though, and the Wi-Fi from my room was woefully inadequate. Great location and easy access to the park.Rooms: 4/5
The staff here is wonderful and service is great. However, the hotel is a bit tired and in need of upgrades. Though our dinners and wine were very good, the breakfast buffet was expensive with very few options for eating healthy. The coffee urn, no matter how full, had to be pumped multiple times in order to get a cupful of bubbled coffee. Strange. The hot tubs were ok, but the jets didn't really work-- very little spa action. We didn't hang in the lounge much, but it was pretty comfortable, probably great during the winter with the fireplace, etc. Nearby activities: There is a grocery store within walking distance with a variety of items for sale besides food and drink. The National Park is just a few miles away.
Went to the restaurant last Tuesday with friends. Really good food at the restaurant and lovely cosy setting. However, the waitress serving us didn’t smile once and we felt rather unwelcome. We were more than happy to show ID’s when asked, but we were still made to feel like an inconvenience. My drink order was brought over wrong, but I didn’t feel comfortable to raise it, given the unwelcoming vibe. Disappointing, I’ve worked in customer service and never would serve customers without a polite smile.
The biggest and probably best hotel in National Park Village. 80+rooms and the staff have to work hard. Food in the restaurant arrives at different times based on when ready from the kitchen. Rooms more than serviceable and a coin laundry on site in a drying room. The latter is needed as it rains a lot on the mountain.Rooms: 4/5
Very pleasant stay. The staff are extremely hard working and helpful. The room service was good after the first night but it was a little worrying the following day, when we returned to find our room door wide openRooms: 3/5
If you have to stay in national park village then this is probably a solid choice. Not the cleanest room and best values
If you are vegetarian then find somewhere else to eat. The crispy noodle salad was 95% lettuce with some noodles scattered on top. The tomato and cucumber was cut into tiny 3 X 3 X 1 mm pieces and the 5 or 6 bits would add to less than half of 1% of the salad. The 'dressing' was out of a bottle and pretty yuck. At breakfast the scrambled eggs were in the same warmer as the bacon. Besides the eggs they had hash browns to make up the non-meat hot option. No mushrooms, or tomatoes, or beans, or something to liven it up and hide the tang of bacon in the egg.
