Fabulous walk with a wide range of terrain and experienced guides who showed us all kinds of things we would have missed without them. Plus the quality of the food! Loved the low-waste approach and range of meals and snacks. Really loved how they accommodated my fear of swinging swing bridges too and then there's that final day surprise... but I can't tell you anything more about that :
A fantastic guided walk, with a small and friendly group, knowledgeable and experienced guide Lauren and absolutely delicious food. Everyone could go at their own pace, and we learnt a huge amount about the local flora and fauna, particularly the alpine species. Don't hesitate to go on a Paparoa Guided Walk, you'll have a Great great walk, and keep enjoying what you learn for many more tramps to come!
Wonderful hike with excellent food! We hiked with Sandra and her backpack must weigh like 20kg to carry all our breakfast/lunch/dinner! All the food were made with fresh ingredients, no dehydrated stuff! Creamy pasta, tacos made fellow hikers staying at the same huts really jealous :- Sandra knew all the best hidden spots on the track and we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Pororari River on the last day. Although the price of the guided hike may be expensive, however after hiking other Great Walks with insufficient food to reduce backpack weight, I ate so well this time and had more time enjoying the hike without worrying about food preparation
A fantastic 4 day adventure in Feb 2024 with Trev as our guide and cuisine chef. What a great asset Trev is to have as your guide!! Could not have wished for a better person to enjoy our experiences with. He was up early and did not stop until late in the evening ensuring that we were satisfied. Not an easy task with the whims of some. Hope he is paid well because 12 + hour days is not easy, plus the pack weight and looking after everyones safety.nnThe scenery is stunning, well worth the treknnGeoff CampbellnLower Hutt
Totally recommend Paparoa Guided Walks. Great pre-walk contact and information. We had Summar as our guide last month. Our group of 4 were so impressed with her and the walk. The route and the land was so beautiful and there was hardly anyone on the trail. DOC huts are always challenging but fun.nnSummar was smart, knowledgeable and competent. Our American visitor had never tramped before and could not have completed the walk without Summar's help and encouragement on Day 3 on the tops in wet, cold, windy weather. As a guide, her knowledge of fauna and flora was incredible; she knows the west coast and we got a sense of life there now; and in settler time; and how Maori would have lived. Her respect for Te Ao Maori was apparent.nnWhat we also liked was the way Summar's relational skills ensured that all the other trampers enjoyed her and supported her in her guiding role. She was fun to be with!nnPlus we loved the food.nnWe highly recommend this small local company!
