The new facilities are lovely and beautiful views of the beach.

We chose this venue for our wedding due to the amazing, beach side location and modern, glassy building that makes the most of the view. Most beach side wedding venues will cost a lot more. The obvious downside is as this is a volunteer surf club with the important role of surf life saving being the priority, the communication as a wedding venue was below average compared to if you went to a full time wedding venue. Great price and amazing, friendly drink service from volunteers on the night. The club also allowed us to change to not hiring the whole venue later in the piece which was appreciated. And ordered drinks we requested. A quirk was the lifeguards were still in their watch room when I was walking past ‘down the aisle’ so I saw them in my eye line. I would advise to hire a wedding planner to make arrangements with the club so you don’t have to stress and follow up on email requests yourself. Communication may have improved by now as our wedding was in November 2022. Just be aware, it’s a volunteer service which will require a lot more planning and communication than a specialist wedding venue, in summary. If you also want food to be a highlight of your wedding and an ease on the day, I would recommend not following their recommendation to use Beacall Catering. This caterer was great for communication in the lead up but on the day, the dinner was late causing stress and the food quality is more standard compared to how it sounds on menu. Great for other community/life saving events I’m sure but not of a quality or gourmet flavour I was expecting. Great range of options though, good price compared to more gourmet options I’m sure and great if you’re not so bothered about food on your wedding day.

Fantastic site for this very well appointed building! The main rooms look out onto the picture perfect Papamoa beach. The facilities overall are modern and clean. Plenty of separate spaces to allow for conversation even when events are going on in the larger main areas. Our event was a wedding and we couldn't have been better looked after. Polite and helpful staff too!
