I graduated from PNGHS in 2020. While my senior years were good I struggled with my mental health in my junior years particularly after an incident that was never rectified. To this day I am still affected and unable to rationalise an extreme outburst unleashed on me by my Year 10 mathematics teacher, shattering my already fragile self-esteem in front of my whole class. It was completely unjustified and should have been dealt with privately. Low grades and lateness to class don’t always equate to a lazy selfish student, in this case it was severe anxiety and depression. I was a student who had no friends, never caused any sort of trouble, barely felt secure enough to ask questions in class. I needed help and he put well below zero effort into considering my wellbeing. It was a one off incident but really the only interaction I ever had with this teacher and it left me feeling worthless, isolated, and so crushed I couldn’t even talk to my parents about it let alone another teacher or counselor. In hindsight I wish I had just walked out of that classroom. The teacher is still working at PNGHS and I hope he never makes someone feel that way again.
Class of 2017: I do not recommend this school to anyone. When I was at school there was nothing in place to protect students and help students excel. While there are a few teachers who ignite a passion for learning there are plenty more that are awful.
attendance will give you long lasting trauma. I suggest you don't go here. Therapy is expensive.
Amazing staff and kind students. As a student I would definitely recommend sending your daughter here!!!!
the therapy needed after is almost expensive as the school uniforms
