This is the second time we've spent our Christmas vacation at Pakiri Beach Holiday Park. The only difference this time is that we came in a large group of six families because we had such a good time the previous time and wanted to share it with our friends. The campground is very well managed. The lawn is extremely dense, making it ideal for camping and playing. The glamping tent is delicately fitted, with enough space for 5 people or a family to enjoy. They have the cleanest amenities and facilities I've ever experienced. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quick getaway from Auckland.
We stayed here with our three year old and some families. It was perfect. The amenities are great. My son loved the bouncing pillow and the river was great for him to boogy board in. Such a beautiful spot. It’s our second time and we’ll definitely come again.
My first time visiting Pakiri and what an amazing place. What a credit the hosts Jordan & Tom are, from their knowledge of Pakiri, to the personalised service and welcoming, friendly atmosphere. This place has it all from the tranquilly to relax and get out of the Auckland hussle, to the breath-taking beach views & walks, electric carts, cycling opportunities, child friendly playground, fishing & bird paradise. Room was clean and tidy with beautiful view of the beach and sound of ocean to fall asleep to. I even got to see the 'Fairy Terns' which are endangered with only approximately 40 in NZ. Great location, breath-taking views and the BEST HOSTS and staff. Highly recommended.
The best! I have now stayed in Waipu & Mangawhai but this campground beats them both. Had an awesome stay here, great amenities. Staff were awesome. The shop is pricey but you expect that for a little local shop. The location is beautiful, I would definitely stay again
Disappointing New Management for Summer holidays My family and I have been frequent coming to Pakiri but this last time was sadly disappointed! Mostly because we had 2 overseas parents who had their first time camping - at least we had a beautiful beach to enjoy The list is considerable: Broken showers, the coin feeder for hot showers isn’t working properly at main block and its starts at 3’ 52” 8 precious seconds of hot water for such a short shower! Bathroom was dirty with blocked toilets and not frequently cleaned as used to be - same with the kitchen, although there was a bit more effort on the kitchen with clean tea towels available. I Remember being there in DEC 2021 and cleaning was impeccable for all common areas! Feels as they were not ready to take over the administration for summer after Covid, unfortunately ! Not enough ice reposition , no show or event for the last day of the year, no more flat whites the coffee shop is gone! no freezer available - thankfully they heard the complaints and made one freezer available on 31st! The old management Jordan, Tom and their awesome team were terribly missed! Hope Pauline and her team can adapt and level up. Pakiri Holiday Park deserves it #comebackjordan
Guests arriving after 17:00 are not welcome and will not be allowed to campsite. Whole place is locked up after 17:00. 9 to 5 approach might not be best idea in hospitality. Considering very significant detour needed to get there and bizzare hours you are better off staying somwhere else.
We used to visit Pakari growing up as a large family of 9 and after spending 5 years away, we finally had the chance to spend another few days here. We booked: the glamping tent and 3 separate cabins with bunkbeds. The glamping tent was beautiful - see the photos. It was very clean and set up well when we showed up. The field where the tent was located was flooded so we had to park outside of the paddock. The shower was amazing and there is an outdoor toilet and vanity. The kitchen is also outside. Inside was a big queen bed, a bunkbed sleeps 2 and another twin. The beds were comfy and the tent was decorated well with beautiful and rustic accents. There is a 2 plate stove, a fridge and freezer, and a sink. They also provide some dishes. The campsite is located about 25 minutes from Matakana, 30 minutes from Wellsford. Additional notes: Lifeguards set up the flags around 10:00 - 10:30 am. Laundry room has dryers $4 and washers. There is a communal kitchen if you do not have a unit with a kitchen. There are shower blocks which are paid for with coins. There is a dairy/corner shop on site. Checkout is around 10:30 am. You can check in after 2 pm.
Perfect place for family and tranquility, has a warm water tidal pool very suitable for kids or ppl that don't swim very well.
Beautiful place, very good and attentive service from staff! I had a bit of an encounter with some cockroaches, but the staff were quick to respond and gave me anti insect sprays. Cabins are fairly warm at night with good equipments.
Wonderful location and a warm welcome from Jordan. I was upgraded to chalet and it was very welcoming, warm with lamps lit beside a beautifully decorated bed. The cushions on the chairs by the little dining table and the bed reflected the value the Holiday Park places on caring for the environment. The kitchen is well set up and the bathroom is beautifully clean with lovely white towels. There are a range of activities there and the ocean is a minute's walk away. All in all a place I highly recommend.
