The store itself was good, this review refers to a bad experience with the supervisor.nWe, obviously over 30, wanted to buy non-alcoholic beer 0.0% alcohol. The cashier told us that we needed physical ID for this. Understandable, of course. So I ran to the car to get it. The supervisor was called to check my ID. She asked if we were there together, which I confirmed. She also wanted to see my husband's ID. I said that I would then have to run back to the car a second time. Alternatively, we offered to show her a photo of the ID. We also pointed out again with a friendly smile that it was 0.0% alcohol. The supervisor simply replied that we would then just have to run to the car a second time. We understand that there are rules and that she is just doing her job. Our concern is with the entire demeanor, which we found unfriendly and snippy. We have bought non-alcoholic beer in New Zealand several times and have never encountered a situation like this.
Busy supermarket, good product range & cheap prices. They had an excellent range of warm - ready to eat meals for around $7 - $9 which is great if you're in a campervan or on a budget. Meals like Spaghetti Bolognese, roast chicken & potatoes n gravy & veggies etc...
Busy and crowded. Difficult to find a carpark during peaked hours but the place is functional and has all the grocery needs.
An ok shop with a large carpark and shop layout. Unfortunately, for the amount of shop space, there is not much variety of food. The security look at me and my Wilhelm funny - like us old folk are going to steal insert sad face emoji. The people at the self-checkouts manage you like cattle - I would like to go to letter J not letter K.
I recently visited Pak’nSave Taupo for the first time after many years in the area. I had previously shopped at the old Countdown and had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my visit this time was marred by the behaviour of a staff member at the self-checkout. She approached unannounced while I was checking out a few items, grabbed my trolley, and pushed it to the other side of the counter without saying a word.nnThis approach to customer service is concerning. Shoving a trolley without communication can be particularly challenging for customers with injuries or special needs, as it forces them to navigate awkward or unsafe movements.nnI urge management to consider training their team on respectful, informative, and accommodating customer service practices. Simple dialogue and mindful handling of customers’ belongings can go a long way in creating a positive shopping experience.nnBased on this experience, I personally will not be returning. Customer service standards like these are disappointing, even compared with international norms. I hope the team reflects on this feedback along with the others I see on here! and strives to do better.
