Story

What is Paint the Earth?
Paint the Earth is a retail store where you can paint your own ceramics. It's a great social activity – you can chat while you paint or enjoy individual time-out while creating a unique ceramic piece.

All instruction, paints, design ideas and painting tools are supplied so you can relax back and enjoy creating. You leave your work of art with us to glaze and fire ready for you to collect in 4-5 days.

Is Paint the Earth just for kids?
Certainly not! We have people of all ages who love to come and paint. We have stencils, designs to trace, shaped sponges and design books to give you ideas on what to paint on your ceramic piece.
When can we take the painted ceramic piece home?
The firing process takes about 5 days during which time:
The piece is left to dry over-night
It is glazed and left to dry again
The glaze is then hand finished and the piece loaded into the kiln
The firing is a 24 hour cycle by the time the kiln reaches it's full heat and then cooled slowly (for best results);
The piece is then unloaded from the kiln and checked for any cracks or abnormalities which are all part of the "nature of ceramics"
Your piece is then matched to the description on your docket and wrapped ready for pick-up.

This place was amazing, took my son to paint a coffee mug for his mum's birthday, and it came out amazing, thank you! If you are preparing something for a special occasion, just need to remember to factor in a couple of weeks after your painting time for the firing/glazing process to be completed. Overall, great friendly staff, experience and cool product. Thanks
We had So much fun there!! The lady was so helpful and kind. The selection of items of items to paint is huge. We will definitely be back, the kids Loved it. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for a great time.
Had the most beautiful time with my family and then took my friends again the next day! This is a must do for all ages, it is so relaxing and creative. Thank you to the lovely team for making the experience even better, especially Sue : next time I am visiting Auckland I will be coming again!
Absolutely loved my experience! So many things to choose from. Can't wait to pick up the final products!
I always have a great time at this studio. The staff are lovely and the selection is great. Thank you especially to Jessie for her help and understanding with my two small plates
Super fun experience! I went with a group and we all had a blast making unique items. Staff were friendly and helpful, parking was easy, premises were clean.
Paint the Earth is a wonderful way to make special things as presents and spend time with my children making them! the staff are friendly and helpful and the hardest part for us is deciding what to make! It's not really a problem though as it makes for another visit to make our next project!
Lara brought the Paint the Earth experience to my workplace for a colleague's farewell function and was incredibly organised and thorough in her instructions. As I'm not at all artistic, I just treated it as a bit of fun and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. My mug looked terrible when I'd finished, but Lara carefully packed it away for glazing and firing back to HQ. A week later, our mugs arrived and I couldn't believe how great they looked. If I'd been in Provence, I'd have happily bought mine as a souvenir!
If you are looking for a date activity, this is the perfect spot. Staff is insanely nice and there to help with all of your questions. Somewhere you can very easily spend 2.5 hours at and not even realize. Had an absolute blast, will definitely be back.
Very good place to feed your creativity! The pieces are all fired white, so they are literally a blank canvas for you to paint! The work area is very well setup, with aprons to wear and a hand washing station. There are a lot of colour choices in squeeze bottles which make it easy to manage, and palettes and plenty of brush options. If you are a bit fancy, there are advanced options like stencils, claws and paint pins! You leave your work there and come back in 2 weeks and is has been through the kiln. I recommend allowing a couple of hours for a visit, as it takes a while to choose your item, the colors, think of a design and paint it. Great for kids, young and old :-
