What a beautiful little place! The gardens are so romantic and I can just imagine how lovely it would be to hold a wedding here. We stayed in the campground and the facilities are superb, host is friendly and the atmosphere very relaxed. It's also close to Rainbow falls, which is a must see in the area! The pictures does it no justice
My partner Tom and I spent 9 days in total at Pagoda Lodge back in late January and it was an absolute highlight of our three month adventure in New Zealand! We initially spent two days camping in the lodge grounds before Stephen and Kathy the owners invited us to stay on as workawayers. This was a fantastic decision as they were so kind and generous to us during our stay and the lodge and its surroundings were really stunning. We even think there's a local kiwi bird living in the forest across the lodge river! We have such happy memories of our time here and would truly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying. Thank you so much Stephen & Kathy for your wonderful hospitality. We'll be back! X
This peaceful place has everything needed for a relaxed break. Great range of accommodation choices. Warm, kind-hearted and helpful, Stephen and Kathy are lovely hosts. Sitting out on the river deck or by the gardens is great for unwinding. Walking trails – short and longer – are close by. Something about staying here – and I’ve come back quite a few times – is very restful and re-energizing. This Easter break was a great time to catch up on sleep, enjoy the fresh air, read and relax before heading back to the city. Highly recommend.
Beautiful scenery and not far from town, the Pagoda Lodge is a lovely place to stay if you're looking to relax a bit. There are plenty of hikes to do and kayaks to use on a fun day out. The owners, Stephen and Kathy, are incredibly kind and really make you feel at home. Each caravan/glamping tent has its own personality, providing a comfortable stay unlike any other. I highly recommend staying here.
My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights here recently on an unpowered camping site. Easily the nicest campsite we have stayed at in our 3 weeks of travelling around the north island and has definitely made us want to head back to the area! Loads of walks straight from the grounds of the lodge, quiet and peaceful without feeling restrictive, great place to stay!
This is probably new zealands best campground : scenery is amazing and the owner is very friendly! Just by a small river and they have a really nice seating area overlooking the river, amazing! We booked a second night just after a few hours here : love it! And the best thing is that its only 20 nzd per night per person for unpowerd site, 45 for powerd if i remember correctly. Stay here if you are traveling through or even come here only for the pleasure of camping here :
Fantastic place with very welcoming hosts. We stayed here for 3 nights in early November 2011. We'd planned to visit the Bay of Islands, but opted not to stay in Paihei as Pagoda Lodge just looked too good to miss out on - and Kerikeri is only a short bus ride from Paihei if you really want to do the activities there. When we arrived Stephen made us very welcome. Our tent was right down on the waters edge, and he even provided us with some fresh milk so we could have a brew before heading into town to stock up. Facilities were great, well maintained. And the grounds themselves were stunning. It was really nice getting away from it all and sleeping in such a secluded spot. It's around a 20-30 min walk into Kerikeri itself a pleasant walk at that! and there are plenty of cafe's and pubs/restaurants to eat in. There is also a great pub/restaurant just over the hill 10-15 min walk called the Pear Tree which is well worth a visit.
Be very careful booking the boat house. Looks great. One bed is super hard the double and the singles are super soft. Mossie screens have holes and there are openings around the doors anyways. Plus the local shops sell out of mossie spray. very over priced. Plus the owner tries to restrict shower hours and times to 3m. But the hot water is on all night and no restrictors. So shower up i say as it's so over priced. Thinking of reporting to the safety people as all fire protection equipment is out of date. Oh and you can't use more than two items plugged in or the power cuts out. Super hot tin shed. no fans provided.
One of the best campsites o have ever been to! Beautifil place in nature. Enjoying the morning or evening sun on the riverdeck is astonishing : still not far away from the city center. Perfect starting point for nearly every hike around keri keri Facilities are clean!WiFi works well over the whole campground. The host are super nice. In general a perfect campsite you gonna miss nothing! :
A duck bit me. These ducks are totally out of control. We had a tent down by the river, with a deck extending out over the bank. I was sitting there enjoying a breakfast with my partner, morning sun shining through the trees, watching the fish swimming by. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a duck had crept up behind me, right onto our deck. When I gesticulated at it in a attempt to ward it from my breakfast, it bit my hand. It had brought a gang of it's duck friends, and I swear I could see their smirks. This place needs to do something about these bully ducks! Apart from that, this place is great. We stayed in one of the glamping tents. It was very comfortable and had everything you could need, even a fridge. It was private, and the positioning was just perfect. It was basically a canvas walled sleep-out. The owner was gracious, and more accommodating than they strictly needed to be. Pagoda Lodge is about a 30 minute walk to Kerikeri town where there's a handy New World part way through a bush walk. It's also close to the Stone Store. There are plenty of other walks around, like the 2 hour round trip to the Rainbow Falls, which is very pleasant. Set your expectations appropriately though. This is still a camp site, not a resort. It has everything you could need, but not necessarily everything you might desire. The facilities block is effectively an outdoors affair so nature is definitely asserting its presence. It's charming and rustic. The main deck/central dining area is a highlight.
