I had a rough beginning with having my knee surgery and other stuff happening but had nothing to do with my knee or the rehab. It was other complications that had nothing to with my knee which my knee is doing great after whole knee replacement. I knew I had to be at rehab. Once I got there I knew it was going to be doing hard work and dedication I had to put out. I loved my experience there I would recommend them all the time. The staff is so kind and patient . The team I had was amazing, I was blessed to have such a great team.
I love this place and these people! Nearly 2 months ago after a trip to the ER on my home island, I was informed that I had numerous blood clots in my torso and legs and was life flighted to Queens hospital. Two emergency surgeries later I found myself a bilateral amputee alone in the big city. When I left the hospital they sent me to RHoP, and thank heavens for that. The therapy changed my life. Staff was professional, compassionate, and loving from the specialists right down to the nurses aides. Special shout-out to Casey and Toby the therapy dog. I have found my hope again bcuz of the good care and therapy. They are truly committed to giving me some measure of independence. I never dreamed that I would be strong enough to move myself in and out of my wheelchair or maneuver without legs as quickly as I have. The nurses on my floor quickly became trusted friends. I cannot say enough about how wonderful everyone here has been to me. Absolutely recommend this facility to anyone in need of recovery after a life changing accident or illness.
I feel the need to share my experiences even though most patients will have no choice when they use this facility. I was in a Paragliding accident six years ago so I am hoping things have change sense my experience with this facility. I am a retired Firefighter/EMT of 25 years so I know the program and that was the only reason I was able to stay there for three weeks to get me well enough to get me on an airplane. Believe me when after three months at a hospital that I just wanted to be home but knew the long plane ride that was in front of me was not possible. I was a very healthy 50 y/o that was well educated in our health system which help me deal with happened to be the head of this facility at the time. I would bet my entire next months pay that this person no longer is employed or that is what I am hoping. This place was good all except the person in charge who bragged about their high ratings with the insurance companies as the reason was because that made you leave before you were ready as a patient. They wanted me out in less than two weeks and when I arrived by ambulance I could not even sit up with passing out. They tried to send me to a hotel when I was not able to do anything myself just to make their rating go up with your insurance company. Please use a different facility if you have a choice. The people who work there for the most part do well and are caring. The money people at the top will throw you out onto the street without a second thought. Take care of number one folks!
My past experience with friends going thru thier rehabilitation, were pleasant and impressively satisfied with the service, staff and doctors. Communication of patience information on the progression in thier rehabilitation is on point and the nurses and staff are always upbeat cheerful and full of energy. A positive feeling that each day is a progress to individual goals and high motivations are expected from patience and staff alike. Aloha radiates everywhere at this Rehab hospital of the Pacific.
Awful place. The air conditioning rarely works. The ice machines break and there is no ice for the patients water for days at a time. Everything is a little dirty and never really clean. This should be a great facility but it isn't.
Revision: sorry, thank you to the nurses and nursing station. All wonderful!! Sister couldn’t remember everyone who dealt with her; however, she was pleased with this facility. Thank you everyone.Sister received services here for 2 1/2 weeks. Floor 4. She was satisfied with the PT OT ST services. Friendly staff, including nurse’s aid and the person outside the facility that managed visitors etc. she improved a little from the services but had to leave to continue services at home. Phone service was good, unlike another facility that sister stayed in….staff rarely answered phones; and when left a message, staff would return calls sometimes 1-3 days later or never. Appreciated Leah, clinical care coordinator, for communicating regularly with family. Disappointed that family couldn’t visit. Perhaps the facility should set up a visiting area away from other residents.
My son desperately needs to be in a rehab hospital, however, he was turned away because they believed he wouldn’t make significant gains. ANY GAIN IS SIGNIFICANT to someone who needs it.
The reception staff for outpatient need to be retrained or some type of structure with follow up phone calls need to be relooked. I have been calling for outpatient for three days every fifteen minutes to get through to outpatient however my phone calls keep going to voicemail. I had to blow up their lines literally to get someone from outpatient to respond. Which shouldnt be the case.
The Screen temp staff Lawrenzo is a very nice, passionate and professional worker. I had a Family member staying here and he always took the time to greet myself and Family, while taking our temp. Keep up the Great work.
My husband spent two weeks at Rehab Hospital of the Pacific following a near-fatal stroke. He was medevac'd from Hawai'i Island to Queens', and after two weeks transferred to RHOP. He is nearly fully recovered physically and mentally - much of which is due to the caring and patient work of the nurses, therapists, doctors, helpers and staff there. Everyone we encountered was friendly, caring and helpful, and we are very grateful. Their hard work helped him gain strength, mobility and cognition - enough to transfer him to Life Care Center of Kona for more intensive therapy. The facility is nice. The cafeteria has short hours take snacks for evening visits, but the food was pretty good. There are garden areas to sit outside and take a breather. Therapists were eager to answer questions, and to work with me on modifications to make at home and any training I needed. The care coordinator stayed in touch with me when I had to return home, and was very helpful in arranging the transfer to Kona. I would recommend RHOP with confidence.
