Title: Hidden Gem with Breathtaking Views - Owhiro Bay BeachnnFrom the moment I stepped onto Owhiro Bay Beach, I knew I was in for a special treat. Located a scenic drive away from Wellington's hustle, this beach is a sanctuary for those looking to escape into nature's embrace.nnThe panorama is simply stunning. With rugged coastlines kissing the vast expanse of the Southern Ocean, the views offer a dramatic and serene atmosphere that is both invigorating and calming. The water, with its spectrum of blues and greens, is a delight for the eyes, and while it can be brisk, it's ideal for a refreshing dip on warmer days.nnWhat truly sets Owhiro Bay Beach apart is its tranquil ambiance. It's less crowded than other beaches, offering a sense of privacy and peace that is rare to find. Whether I wanted to sunbathe, enjoy a picnic, or just read a book with the sound of waves in the background, this was the perfect spot.nnFor the adventurers, the beach is a stone's throw from some breathtaking hiking trails. I took the opportunity to explore some, and the Red Rocks Reserve nearby provided a unique walking experience, with seals sunbathing on the rocks adding to the charm of the rugged landscape.nnThe cleanliness of the beach is commendable. It's clear that the community cherishes this locale, and their efforts in keeping it pristine are evident. The facilities are well-maintained, and there's enough parking, which made my visit hassle-free.nnOwhiro Bay Beach is also a haven for star gazing. As night falls, and if the skies are clear, it offers a magical backdrop for astronomy enthusiasts or romantic strolls under the star-lit sky.nnWhen it comes to amenities, while Owhiro Bay Beach feels like a world away, it's not devoid of convenience. There are a few charming cafes nearby, serving delicious bites and warm drinks, perfect for those chilly days by the sea.nnIn conclusion, Owhiro Bay Beach is a must-visit. It's a place where natural beauty, adventure, and relaxation converge to create an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, make sure to add this enchanting spot to your itinerary. You won't regret it!nnWould I return? Absolutely—in a heartbeat! Owhiro Bay Beach is not just a place you visit; it's a delightful discovery that stays with you long after you've left its shores. Five stars hardly seem enough for such a treasure.
Nice rocky beach on the south coast of Wellington that is dog friendly. There's an off street car park and an information panel about the marine reserve that stretches along the coast line here. Nice place to go for a walk with the dog.
Lovely area of Wellington. Well maintained, often see people picking up rubbish. Great lot of bird life too.
Great beach for all day fun. Not a lot of sand. Mainly flat stones. Beautiful view. No public toilets but usually less people there than the other beaches on the south coast
Sad to see a dead seal and dead bird there and very Rocky to walk on but pretty.
