A great place to visit!nThe best is that it’s free!!!nIt’s a little walk from the car park. On sight there is no shade. There are toilets to use and to change in.nThe hot pool is where the small “waterfall” is, it’s a lovely area to sit and relax. You can then swim in the cold and clear Waikato river. A nice place to spend a few hours.
Soak under a waterfall or in the natural rock pools whilst taking in the stunning views of the deep green, crystal-clear waters of the mighty Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest river.
How could I give a beautiful natural phenomenon such as this one anything but 5 stars?! There is lovely pebbly-sand underfoot that feels amazing so would not recommend shoes and stunning views and it was free! Now if this is your first time at a natural thermal spring, don't expect a hot tub. In order to really note how warm the water is, I recommend to start out in the river next to the stream where the water is almost glacially cold. Then, slowly work your way up. Here you can climb up the falls easily all the way to the bridge and notice how the water gets warmer the closer you get to the spring! Enjoy!
Meh. Not all it's cracked up to be. Water is only lukewarm and it's fairly dirty water too. There's lots of bees and access to any pools is a climb over rocks.nThere is access to good swimming in the river.nThere are no garbage cans.
The water was barely lukewarm. We drove for an hour to get there but I was the only one to get in the water. The surroundings was beautiful but calling it a hot springs is a bit misleading. I should have read the reviews before visiting.
