In 2012, Glenda Atkins, Gillian Good, Janet Macrae & Faimie McGlen formed the 3 Churches Quilt Walk. This has become: Otautau Flowers, Quilts & Craft Day.
HISTORY: A small group of women (Glenda Atkins, Gillian Good, Janet Macrae, Faimie McGlen), formed the original group in Dec 2012. This came about due to the demise of Otautau Garden Club Flower Show and the Closing of the Town Hall. In 2016, the group re-formed and is now called Otautau Flowers, Quilts & Craft Day.
PURPOSE: The group was re-formed with the aim of having an annual February event day, giving the opportunity for both creative and green-fingered individuals and groups, to display and promote their talents within the local community. The day will provide an opportunity to raise money to be donated to local Otautau Charities, the main cause will be determined prior to the day and publicized each year.
Our mission is to run an annual day in February (date to be decided annually - based on what other events are happening around the area), incorporating creative and green-fingered events in Otautau which display or involve the sale of work by both individuals and interested groups.
The funds raised from this event are to be given primarily as donation/s to local charities or not-for-profit groups (determined on a year by year basis), to help support the local Otautau community in areas specifically for the advancement of education, the relief of poverty and other specific benefits to the wider community - eg: St. John's, Western Health Shuttle, Swimming Pool Complex, Amateur Sporting Groups, etc.
