Orepuki Tavern, is in Southland New Zealand, in a small country township on the coast of Te Waewae Bay only 50 minutes drive from Invercargill.
The Orepuki Tavern is a great place to sit back, relax and unwind. Enjoy a cold one, a meal or some great local entertainment.
We hold various events, with some of our more famous ones including 'duck plucking competition', 'spud in a bucket competition', 'bacon and egg pie competition' and that is just to name a few. These events end up a very entertaining day/evening and majority of the time end up with a band playing to end the night.
We have some great nearby attractions, Monkey Island (no there is no monkey's there) which is a small island and mini lagoon off the southern end of the beach. Accessible during low tide. Gemstone Beach is situated half a km north of Orepuki and this wild beach contains semi-precious gemstone such as garnet, and elusive sapphire. Also McCracken's Res, this provides spectacular panoramic costal views from Pahia to the Waiau River Mouth and further round to the former timber town, Port Craig.
So after your day of sightseeing we hope to welcome your company in our Tavern.
We look forward to meeting you all and hearing your stories.
