Not even sure where to begin. This “institution” is nothing more than a cash grab and scam. There is very little support from staff and they are extremely slow when requesting assistance. It’s been 6 months for me to do 2 more resubmissions for my final assignment! About a month wait time per email. It’s so obvious you have barely any staff and just take people’s tuition fees.nnThey outsource to 3rd party markers who definitely don’t speak English as a first language, nor do they provide any consistency. I had 4 different markers for 4 different submissions of the same assignment and they all contradicted one another. I’d take on their advice and make amendments based on their recommendation just for the next marker to say that it’s wrong. Thousands of dollars and two years completely down the drain. I no longer have the time nor mental capacity to continue with this course.nnThis place needs investigating. Just look at all the recent reviews. A class action lawsuit is deserved so you can stop wasting hard working people’s money and time.nnPointless. Stressful and a pathetic excuse for education. DO NOT ENROL HERE.
Studying through open poly has been the biggest waste of time ever. I used my one fees free year, and I still didn't get my moneys worth. From terrible communication, to assessments not being marked for weeks, not being notified when it finally gets marked and missing the 7 day resubmission window because we were unaware of it being marked. Also I, out of thousands of users, got locked out of my course for a number of days/weeks which open poly still has no idea how it happened. Took 5+ phone calls from everyone's bosses bosses boss to finally get it sorted, and then no grace or help when I finally get back in. Iv never felt so lost and helpless in a place of education before. There needs to be a reform where you actually TALK TO YOUR DAMN TUTOR. Not to mention the actual grammar of the course was incorrect?! Absolutely disgusting. Disabled children could run a polytech better. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I’m going to be a little generous here as I have had good experiences previously when studying with Open Polytechnic at degree and diploma level. Recently however, I attempted to enrol in a couple of certificate courses and the process has been tedious. I’m wondering if they don’t prioritise those of us doing the free courses as I applied on the 19th of last month and am still waiting to hear if I got in. It is now the 16th of October and the first of my courses is due to start next Monday! This is ridiculous, I have never experienced such a slow process and I have done a lot of study with various institutions, up to post grad level. It’s not as if the courses I selected have a lot of pre requisites either. Studying extramurally is difficult, you need to know well in advance if you’ve been accepted or not, not days before!!
Worst experience getting respond to your request not user friendly their website I have done online course through NZTC and Whitireia. Everytime you have to enroll for same course you do over the time once you submit assignment and to get the new one pretty slow. for 6 months of course they stretch it to one year.
I studied with OPTNZ a few years back. It was the greatest experience. Yes I had to do a lot of work myself and research a lot of things but that’s online self directed learning. I could earn a decent living while I studied and that was a Bonus. I read a lot of bad reviews moaning about too much reading and having to do a lot of research yourself and no lecturer support or responses to slow. All I can say is welcome to self directed distance learning. If you don’t have what it takes to do self directed distance learning then don’t blame anyone but you. Realise it doesn’t suit you and join a university campus. Thank you Open Polytechnic for giving me the opportunity to learn at my own pace while I worked and raised my family.
