The Onaero River is a river of the Taranaki Region of New Zealand's North Island. It rises on the slopes of Taramoukou, 14 kilometres south of Urenui, reaching the sea two kilometres to the west of the same town.

Nice spot. Waves were messy, not best surf, but nice beach and camp grounds
Stayed at Onaero Beach motor camp for 2weekends.We had access to the public toilets which are concrete block. They are washed out regularly. It is the oldest block there. You pay a $1 for 6mins hot water. You can shower and wash your hair without running out of hot water. You put a pin number in for access to the toilet/shower unit as well. $4 to use a washing machine
The council needs to deal to all the weeds encroaching it's river banks especially the Willy nightshades some are now tall trees with big trunks, I would use it for firewood but it carries silica up out of the ground which apart from creating sparks, also blunts the chain saw quickly. It is a pretty river but really needs cleaning up, we had mawporks living in the bush across the river right up until the council did their possum poison drop now it's gone silent not just the mawporks, but Tui's, Bellbirds, bush robins, wood pigeon's, and others, there are not a lot of possums here they could have been caught by traps the damage is immense thanks to their evil methods of eradication This is the same council that also dumbs the local population down by shoveling flouride, and chlorine into the municiple water supply. Check your toothpaste if it states it contains fluoride instead of brushing your teeth with it, you can save dollars by diluting it with water five parts to one then spraying your weeds like Kellie's, scotch thistles, inkweed and many more it turns them black within three days, it kills them very effectively, an incidentally recent studies have proved it weakens your bone structure as well as accumulating in the brain and does not protect the enamel of your teeth, fluoride is a leathal by product of aluminium production it is so toxic, and caustic it can not be contained in either plastic, steel drums, or glass it's an environmental hazard that was first used by the Nazis in their concentration camps on the Jewish prisoners to settle them down to make the more docile, and compliant, and now your council feeds it to You, and your family under the misleading premise it's good for your teeth do the research it's an insidious slow killer responsible for many illnesses including cancers, many countries around the World have criminalised the use of this by product, only a handful still do and NZ is one of them wake up Kiwis petition your local council it must be outlawed the sooner the better !!
