Old St Paul's is one of Wellington's most beautiful places to visit. It is a category 1 historic place, cared for by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga.
Built in 1866, Old St Paul’s is one of New Zealand’s greatest heritage places, and one of the finest examples of timber Gothic revival architecture in the world, now cared for by Heritage New Zealand.
Constructed entirely from native timbers, featuring stunning Victorian stained glass windows, Old St Paul’s is a popular and welcoming place for the many thousands of people who visit every year.
Although services are no longer held in Old St Paul's it is still a popular venue for weddings. Birthday parties, reunions, corporate events and music performances are also held in the church as it is a perfect venue for all celebrations! Tourists are able to take some of the history away with them in the form of themed souvenirs from the gift shop and learn more about the history of the church and the Wellington region through guided tours. Old St Paul's also offers education programmes to primary and secondary schools.
