Story

Welcome to the 'Old Fashioned Costume Photography' facebook page. We are a unique little business operating in the beautiful historic town of Arrowtown, New Zealand. Our studio is situated behind the Lakes District Museum in the main street.

I am passionate about all things Victorian, Edwardian and just generally 'old' and have spent many years studying and collecting vintage costumes, props, books and most importantly.... old photographs. This business combines my love for history and photography and gives me an excuse to continue collecting all sorts of 'stuff'.

Our aim is to give you a beautiful photograph with which you could fool your friends...into beleiving that you really do look just like your great great great grandparent! (or what they would have looked like if they were of Euopean decent!) People love the experience of dressing up and it amazes me that just putting on a costume gives people an insight into how things were for people of the past, ie how jolly hard it would have been to ride a horse in a crinoline!

Whilst our photographs look as though people have spent hours dressing up! the reality is that most costumes fit easily over street clothes and it's all very quick and easy. We have a huge array of costumes to suit all ages and sizes. You can be, ladies or gentlemen, bargirls or badboys, miners or musicians......and many other things besides........

There are also many options, when it comes to printing and presenting your photographs, from the popular Arrowtown Souvenir card, to different sized prints, prints mounted on authentic looking Victorian cards, framed prints or a CD with all your photographs on it. Everthing happens on the spot....that part is not Victorian at all!

MOST importantly , having photographs taken in our studio is sooooooo much FUN
